I agree with Brain on the point that you can be a christian and be pro-choice. If you accept Christ and ask forgiveness then you are a Christian. However, I do not see how any one can make a case that abortion is acceptible based on the bible or christian morality. The following verses from Luke address it directly:

A christian can be wrong about a lot of things and can participate in a lot of sins. I think they are placing themselves away from God and will eventually be chastised by God for being disobedient but they are free to do it.

Can you be a christian and be pro choice, yes. Are you wrong and committing a sin if you do, yes. Are christians sometimes wrong and committing sins, yes.

When it comes to the Catholic church's motives in opposing contraception, it's really hard for me to believe anything other than their desire to grow and swell their ranks. Seems ridiculous now, but it wasnt several hundred years ago. Abled bodied men to do the church's work and pay their tithes was a big deal.

That attitude clouds their position against abortion, and therefore my opinion of it.

The baby lept in his mother's womb when his mother heard the news that Mary was pregnant. That says to me that life begins before birth. There are other passages that state that God knew him from his mother's womb.

I am not catholic but I do not understand the problem they have with birth control. I am all for it. The fewer unwanted pregnancies there are the fewer abortions will happen.

How far along was she when this happened? Obviously the infant had reached a state of consciousness. If a child reaches a state of consciousness and is no longer more than a cell then there should be no debate that abortion at that level is little more than murder. The abortion question should only be debated on a platform that should a cell or a small collection of cells be considered a life. Once its reached a level that the child is beginning developmental stages in the womb it should be illegal to terminate, but I'm willing to allow choice before that level.

She was 6 months along.(Lk 1:36) The angel also said that she had conceived a son and was in his 6th month with her, which kinda makes the argument that life begins at conception.

not really... there is a LOT of development by the 6th month. The brain at that point has developed consciousness. So now the conception argument you present isn't right.
