How can you be Christian and be Pro Choice?

AK, I don't mean to sound harsh or combative or unsympathetic but I think that being born in America is a real and great opportunity. You can't say that every child will have the same advantages of others, but just because it's life starts out bad doesn't mean it has to stay bad. There is help for people in need, especially children, in America.

I agree with this also but one must be responsible enough to not get laid in such a way that the result might be a child. This has nothing to do with rape, of course.

 

AK, why not put a child up for adoption that you can't care for?

 

I think the rub here is what happens if the child does NOT get adopted. Then the child becomes the public's responsibility.

 

Lets say you have an 8 year old little girl... because it can start as young as 8... she's raped, and becomes pregnant... not only is she traumatized from this, but her body most likely can't support the physical demands to have a child. So if she takes the baby to term she is seriously putting her own life in danger.

So you'd be willing to put your own daughter's life in danger rather than to abort the pregnancy?

do you have a funeral for it if it miscarries in the first couple weeks? do you "burn" the name you gave it? do you tell your children they have a dead sibling (or two)?

 

but if the argument of Abortion is preventing God's will, the birth of a child, then wouldn't it likewise be preventing God's will in that case?

Or is it God's will that the new technology be learned that allows for abortion or genetic engineering, etc.

I'm not saying that any of that is God's will it's hard to say. That alone could be debated for lifetimes in itself, but due to that fact you can't question one's Christianity based on this facet.

 

Again, I'm not saying that abortion is a good thing. I'm saying that it should be a decision made by the pregnant woman, because she & the child will bear the brunt of her decision.

Adoption is NOT an option for a married woman whose husband might object--as was my case. He was a violent drunk. I didn't consider his opinion to be worth jack-shit, to be honest. I only wanted to escape someday, with whatever child or children I had.

If you're a white woman carrying a white baby, you've got a pretty good chance of finding good adoptive parents for your child. If you're of another race; or if your child is of mixed race; or if you are a drug addict, or in any other way "damaged," that kid is likely to wind up on the public dole &/or a criminal. That's just the facts. Ugly, but true.

And another ugly truth is that any guy can father a child & remain completely unaware that he's done so, or not give a rat's ass if he's done so. The woman always has, & always will, bear the burden of any decision that affects that child.

I'm not pro-abortion. I'm pro-choice: the pregnant woman should have the right to decide, as best as her conscience leads her.

 

Certainly I would do whatever I had to do to protect my 8 year old daughter especially in an extreme circumstance like that one.
