    * stacey mack -- will probably be a featured back somewhere other than jacksonville next season. the jags have been splitting carries with him and fred taylor and he's done well. he's a bruising back but he's been hittingthe hole with authority this season and is averaging 5.1 ypc.

    * rondel mealey -- still don't know why the packers released him (except for drafting davenport). hell, neither does he. he sat out the whole season because he was so stunned when he went from possibly making a start to pink slipped.

they seem to fit the criteria that fox talked about in regard to free agents: guys who have something to prove.

  2. is mealey with a team right now? davenport was just put on the IR....pack could use him.

Personally I would love a big power back here. Would make a lot of sense. I like these guys if we like trade bait:
    - Chris Fuamatu-Ma afala - although Pitt ain't gonna give him up cheap.
    - Maurice Smith - Atlanta - might get him kinda cheap
    - Troy Hambrick - FA but will probably resign. He seems like such a thug too. Talented though.
    - Jamal White - good back with speed - versitile. Probably will cost a high pick though.
    - Trung Candidate - with Gordon getting more time maybe they would part with Trung. Might be a good back given the chance. Not an every down guy though.

Not a lot to choose from here but possiblities.

mealy was so pissed off after being cut for no rason that he decided to just sit out.

the packers contacted his agent yesterday though after putting davenport on IR.

    - Chris Fuamatu-Ma'afala - I don't think there's any way Pittsburgh gives up the Bettis clone.

    - Maurice Smith - Atlanta - Definite possibility. Atlanta has their stable full with Dunn and Duckett, and Smith seems good enough to start. At least as good as Lamar Smith anyway, IMO.

    - Troy Hambrick - I don't see any way Dallas gives him up. Right now he's "the guy" in big D and going through his dress rehearsal before starting next season.

    - Jamal White - I don't see the Browns getting rid of him, but I could be wrong. Green has not been impressive this year.

    - Trung Candidate - Agree that he's not an every down back, but an upgrade change-of-pace over Dee Brown. Probably won't be as cheap, though.
