    Fleming Resigns As Defensive Backs Coach

    CHAPEL HILL ----- University of North Carolina defensive backs coach Jim Fleming has resigned from the Tar Heel football coaching staff, head coach John Bunting announced on Monday.

    "Jim and I discussed his status with the football program on Sunday and came to the mutual understanding that it was time for a change," said Bunting.
    Fleming coached the last two seasons at North Carolina following a two-year stint as head coach at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn. He has also coached at South Carolina, Boise State, Brown, East Carolina and Villanova.

    Maybe the Tar Heels defensive staff will trade places with the USC Gamecocks staff. Lou Holtz has fired three defensive coaches so far.

    Holtz had struggles following Strong's departure. Now's the time to find the replacement for the next couple years.

    Bunting? Similar problems, just a lot worse. He's gotta save his hide with a damn good defensive hiring. The DC needs to go as well.

    Bunting just gave himself another year with this house cleaning . . . He knows that another year like this and he will be gone for sure next year . .
