they showed the first 10 minutes of the new dawn of the dead flick on USA tonight. honestly, it doesn't look that great.

one thing that has ALWAYS pissed me off about zombie movies is the complete disinterest zombies show in each other. one second a guy is a meal, but then after being bitten, he's suddenly off limits. wtf?

i think a really good twist would be that the zombies would be cannibalistic. they'd eat anything that moves. that would provide a way for the zombies to actually die out and give a glimmer of hope. something for the humans to look forward to, and attempt to survive until.

i thought another good twist would be that zombies have a really short attention span. so they'd not be very good at complex tasks like moving objects out of the way to get you. or maybe if you ditched them, they'd forget they were chasing you. i find that zombies are treated too much like they're invincible one moment and stooges the next depending on what the scene calls for.

I was channel surfing last night and came upon what looked like an extended trailer for this on USA. I don't know what in the fuck was going on and then all of a sudden it ends with the 'opening 3/19' splash. I was freaking out.

As popular as zombies are, it's getting really tough to keep them scary. One minute they're monstrous nightmares, the next they're comedy props. Inventive writers can still find ways to pull it off though.

the guinea pig movie was actually submitted to the FBI..but it's not really horror.

I think some new stuff is allright, like even though it was a homage film, rob zombie's house of 1000 corpses was allright. It wasn't anything special, but it's better than the teen shit out now.

I can also still watch a movie like the first evil dead..

I watched Cabin Fever a couple of weekends ago and it was such a waste of film. I didn't know why anyone would even bother to make such a movie.

I'm more into psychological thrillers, I guess. Silence of the Lambs, Frailty, even Identity was pretty good. I love a good twist at the end. I like movies like Seven and the ones mentioned above because they can (in some cases, have) actually happen. Those people may be standing next to you in the elevator or eating at the table next to your's in a restaurant. I'm thinking ol' Freddy Kruegger would stand out in a Ruby Tuesday's.

When I went to see Corpses, several groups of people walked out, especially when Baby stabs the girl in the bunny suit to death and licks the blood off the knife. Those of us who stayed until the end, however, applauded when the credits rolled. I think we were all happy someone veered away from the Scream clone epidemic that still lingers in Hollywood.

Corpses didn't really scare me, but it was definately a fun ride. And Rob's working on a sequel. :)
