It would have been funny if Davis had ended up back in Charlotte. The whorenuts suck.

I guess Robinson is a decent equity for Mash - I dunno. It's like they've found every way possible to become just another generic also-ran.

Funny, two years ago if you woulda told me that a Charlotte expansion team would be roughly equal to the Hornets, and that they didn't have Elgin, Baron, Mash, Wesley, I'm not sure I woulda believed it.

I may be wrong, but I think Jamal Magloire might be the only Hornet left from Charlotte.

I am wrong. P.J. Brown and George Lynch are still there too. They also re-signed Lee Nailon at some point.

I would never misunderestimate George Shinn's ability to totally fuck up a situation.

pj brown and magloire, i think.

the mash trade is a good trade for the hornets. mashburn was locking up cap space for two years and robinson comes off at the end of the year. plus they rid themselves of rogers (tho, for some reason he was actually getting playing time with scott as tho he actually produced).

the baron davis trade is just horrible. they basically got a refund. baron is gone and his contractual legacy will be gone when dale davis' contract expires at the end of the year. so they'll end up, basically, starting from scratch in new orleans.

dunno why they bothered getting an existing franchise when they ended up with an expansion club.

yeah, that's bizarre. A totally clean cap does nothing for you if you don't have a single thing someone would want to go play for. Why would a premier FA want to be the first piece, knowing full well there's a chance there's not going to be a 2nd?

Bob Bass kept that team afloat while it was in Charlotte. Without him its going to crumble under Shinn.

well, they do have a VERY high pick (top 4) unless they suddenly start playing well (good luck). a good draft and who knows what people will be making after the new cba. could end up that $$ talks. somebody might feel like they want to be the big fish in a small, murky pond. and being under the cap in basketball means that you are the trading destination for teams with future cap issues. the clippers used to own that spot and got great talent from teams looking to unload salaries without having to take on new salaries in trade.

more likely, tho, they'll end up like the bulls a few years ago -- basically a way to get other teams to pay more for free agents.
