So far it sounds like Paul and Williams will be gone before #5. And despite being a Carolina fan, I'm not sold on Felton being worth the #5 spot. I really think the Bobcats got rodgered in the draft lottery. Gerald Green looks like the probable pick at this point, doesn't he?

no Gerald Green has been criticized as being highly overrated. A team like Charlotte wouldn't take him. Meanwhile Felton has been improving his stock steadily in the draft. Deron Williams wouldn't even face him one on one at a workout in fear it'd hurt his draft stock. As far as PGs go, the Hornets may consider passing Felton for Williams, but they aren't about to pass Paul for Williams. That thought makes no sense. I have a feeling that may just be some smoke and mirrors stuff. That way another team wouldn't be inclined to trade to a spot in front of Charlotte and get Paul whom they probably actually want.

I can very easily believe that the Hornets would take Deron Williams over Paul and/or Felton. Williams is a relatively safe bet to have at least a decent career. Paul and Felton have the potential to be better, but also have more of a risk of not living up to expectations. With the situation with the Hornets being what it is right now, and given who is running the team, I can easily see them taking Williams with the pick and going the "safe" route.

I have yet to see why any GM would pick Deron before Raymond Felton (even though it will happen)...the championship game to me proved Ray is a notch better.

Really? Is that a local opinion or national, because what I've read from ESPN and SI has been positive. I have no personal opinion on him and don't care all that much anyway, but the buzz has been building as far as I could tell.

Ray has only had a decent jumpshot for one year. He's also been nicked up at the college level, which is far less physical than the NBA. Meanwhile Deron Williams is built like a tank, and Deron played pretty darn well in that championship game too. If you play in a Phoenix style wide-open offense then I could see taking Felton first, but otherwise I don't see how you take Felton above Williams.
