    The Raiders definitely remember Wiggins...

I never understood why the Pates cut him. He came up huge in that game.

IMO, Wiggins will definitely upgrade our TE depth. I fully expect him to take Mangum's job. But then again, I expected Crawford to take it, too. At any rate, I think Wiggins will see some PT against the Falcons, if not against the 'Boys.

Agreed. Where do you see him winding up on the depth chart, and how soon do you see him getting playing time, Pitch?

He'll get some play's this week more then likely. Heinrich is hurt as Meat reported last night and Walls has the broken finger so expect Kris Mangum Van Mangumson to do the blocking, and Walls and Wiggins (we can call that set WWII) to run patterns.
Heinrich would be inactive, and maybe on IR if we find a WR worth a damn.

    Here's the article from Panthers.com...

Panthers sign TE Wiggins, waive LB Jackson October 8, 2002

    Panthers.com

The Carolina Panthers have signed tight end Jermaine Wiggins and have waived linebacker Brad Jackson, the team announced Tuesday.
Wiggins (6-2, 255) played in 16 games with six starts for New England last season and registered 14 catches for 133 yards and four touchdowns in the regular season but nearly equaled that total in the Patriots AFC divisional playoff win over Oakland with 10 receptions for 68 yards. In the 2001 regular season finale at Carolina, he caught a five-yard touchdown pass. Wiggins, 27, started in the AFC Championship Game against Pittsburgh, and his six-yard reception set up the winning field goal against St. Louis in Super Bowl XXXVI.

Waived by the Patriots on May 2, Wiggins signed as a free agent with Indianapolis on May 14. He appeared in three games for the Colts and posted two catches for 17 yards before being waived on September 24. Wiggins spent the entire 1999 campaign on the New York Jets practice squad and totaled 18 receptions for 207 yards and two touchdowns for the Jets and Patriots in 2000.

Jackson notched one special teams tackle in two games for the Panthers after being signed as a free agent on September 24.
