Seems like I read about this somewhere else. Maybe y'all talked about it...

16:11 PT: Panthers.com reports Carolina Panthers RB Brad Hoover has been doing well in sets that feature an H-back position during summer school sessions. Hoover has an expanded role in the offense, especially in the passing game. Offensive coordinator Dan Henning is hoping Hoover will play a bigger role in blocking.

Yes, blocking is a good thing.

He has good hands, and he's tough. So I like what they're doing with him.

If he's gonna draw more blocking assignments, I hope he's improved a bit.

As H-backs, Hoover and Mangum will make a nice duo. Hoover has good vision and can find the open spot in a passing route and Mangum is a decent blocker.
If Hoover can improve his blocking and Mangum can become a better route runner and develop better hands, we'll have a nice added option to the offense.

Nice to see a local guy (the Pride of Ledford High and WCU) doing well for the Panthers! Roll on Hoov.

I guess this means Mangum ain't getting cut.

    Who goes, then? Crawford? Heinrich?

    hmmmm.... 4 tight ends?

I don't think he's safe yet. To the best of my knowledge, an H back isn't an every down player. It's more like a package, in on certain plays. And if that's the case, I don't see why Hoover couldn't get the job done solely.

I really don't want to see Crawford gone, but I get the feeling it'd be him before Heinrich.

I am betting we keep four TE's w/ Heinrich being a long snapper and Kyle getting the boot.

With Walls recent injury history, it seems like a good idea to carry four.
If you look at other teams that play the H-back, they usually only have one true FB and a TE that moves around. Christian/Kozlowski...Neal/Wychek (in the past) for just a couple of examples.

If Heinrich proves to be reliable long snapping, yeah, I think 4 TE's with Kyle getting the wave.
