That scene was fairly well done, leaving little doubt that it was actually his end. If the show runners were to have Brody return, and twist it as a fake scenario, I'm not sure I could watch it any further. Damien, IMO, performed superbly this past season, and I wasn't thrilled with the end of his character. However, I would be even less thrilled if they thought they could play it out any other way than his demise in that very scene.

My thinking was that the Iranians would torture Brody for an extended period of time only to have a CIA led rescue mission from Turkey led by Carrie to bring him back.

It's difficult to imagine Homeland w/ Damien. He is a superb actor.

 

Yes, it will be a different show without him. The episodes of him in that crazy building were my favorite of this season. I was actually disappointed when they diverged for the Carrie side. She is a great actor too, along with Mandy Patinkin, though his name is rather weird.

 

I like the episode where he gets cucked.
