My SIL makes awesome southern buttermilk biscuits. And we have the maters coming up in their garden now :D

Hellman's is the best mayo you can get here, but nothing really compares to Duke's. Thank goodness I still have friends in the south!

The best maters, IMO, are the ones that have a good acidy flavor.

    Ahhhhh.....foodgasm!

Thought this might be helpful... I think these are the "same" as Duke's, just different labels for different regions. It's all made by the Sauer company which makes Dooks. Don't know why the H it's so expensive though... just thought it might help you out in case the Southern friends and relatives stop talking to you or something ;)

Tons up in Catawba Co. Some are dwindling though.. since most planted on Good Friday, all the plants are mostly producing little golf ball sized maters that nobody wants. BUT, you can still sometimes get lucky.

In Charlotte, Right there on the corner of Kings and Morehead, is another farmers market... and then one right around the corner form there, open I think on Saturdays (you can ask somebody about that one, just went there yesterday... they have a little hillbilly band there, it's really cool.) Can't rememebr what the name of the road is though. :woohoo:
