Artest is crazy, lets face it. But the guy was not trying to do anything when he was hit with the cup of beer. You can only hold back your temper but for soooo long when you're pissed. The fan started it, he was wrong, and he was stealing Artest in the face from behind him. He should get the book thrown at him, just to set an example that no fan should act this way. The same way Stern threw the book at Artest.....even though he deserved it. Prosecute him to the fullest, because he started a mess. I still haven't heard of any charges yet.............what's wrong with that picture.

 

Folks have this perception for a reason. The NBA has allowed their product to devolve over the years into what it is today. Most folks I know could care less about the NBA now, and them seeing this on the news just confirmed it for them. Regardless of who started it, the NBA's image problems were made a lot worse by this incident.

 

once again, the fact that bitch artest didn't do crap to ben wallace who practically punched him in the face is lost. artest was provoked by ben wallace. artest made a rational decision to not go after wallace. but, hey, a fan throws something, that's it, it's his ass. artest is a pussy, he went after the wrong guy. hope he gets sued. he don't like being heckled, quit the nba. he doesn't even know what the word integrity means. so he'd probably be working at mcdonalds. now, when i tell that fucker that he fucked up and put mustard on my hamburger and he goes ape shit after me, he'll go to jail, because he's not in the nba and he'll loose that FREE RIDE that athletes get. big fucking babys.

bottom line, you don't go after fans, you get paid too much money. let the pistons organizaton weed their fans out.

 

Artest was laying on the scoring table to piss Wallace off. He knew there were about 10 people holding Wallace back…he was doing it just to antagonize him even more...which it did

The big black fan that was pummeling jones (I think it was jones) was wallace’s brother.

People don’t realize this….the guy that o’neil cold cocked on the court was not the guy in the tigers hat that artest punched…it was a piston ball boy that o’neil sucked punched….he’ll get an assault and battery charge for that.

 

you gotta put that quote in context. i was questioning what the guy would be charged with. if you shot a gun into the air and it hit an old lady, would you be charged with murder? i think it's questionable whether the guy who threw the beer should be charged with assault (which i believe requires intent).

i've said from the beginning that he was an idiot that needs to be charged with the applicable crime.

 

i think that analogy brings into focus how you see this issue. you make it seem as tho the guy with the beer took great pains to assure that he pelted artest with a cup of beer in such a way as to inflict maximum damage. i see it as a guy getting caught up in the moment and flinging a cup at a guy. even so, i've said FROM THE BEGINING that he should be charged with what is applicable.

oh wait. i just realized what quote that is. that's referring to the guy who was punched by stephen jackson, not the guy who initially lobbed the beer. i questioned whether or not that was an intentional act (which seem really foolosh) or the guy was bumped (there was a huge NBA player attacking a fan next to him afterall). i don't know, so i said i wasn't certain. i suppose he should go to jail, too?

 

the FIRST guy Stephen Jackoson punched is a punk that ran up and tossed a beer directly into the face of Artest while he had about three people headlocking him trying to pull him off the guy he went after.

watch the tape - Jackson didn't take a swing at anybody til he saw the guy toss the beer in Artest's face.

 

so it's okay to physically assault a guy who tosses a beer in your buddy's face, but it's not okay to toss a beer in the face of a guy that's physically assulting your buddy? weird.

watch the tape -- that guy didn't splash beer in artest's face till artest attacked the guy next to him.
