Won't deny he shouldn't have ran up in the stands, but inappropriate for who?? I for one would not just lay there while a fan throws a cup of Beer, or a cup of piss, or a cup of shit or spit on me. Like I said.....that could've been something that ended his career by hitting him in the eye, or something else that could've done damage. Like the Ref flag that hit that football player in the eye. This guy started a mess....and should be hung.......prosecuted to fullest. Along with the fact that on tape, he's stealing ole boy from behind.....LOL

I don't agree with him running up in the stands to beat some ass....but I understand. :xyzthumbs

Hate to bust your bubble...but that is assualt...by law. Hitting a person with a cup is considered assualt. And I would press those charges. And NO ONE THOUGHT THAT A REFEREE FLAG could hit a player in the eye and damn near end his career also. As for my fixation with shit......well.....I've thrown a cup or two full in my younger days......

i believe assault requires willfull intent and from what video i've seen, the guy seems to be just lobbing the thing in the general vacinity. i think the likelihood that artest would have suffered a career ending injury was less than the likelihood that the person he decided to attack would have suffered a life ending one.

Yeah................he was throwing it for NO Reason......probably at one of the ushers....right??? LOL He wasn't trying to hit no one........and my statement about a career ending injury was ment for something elst that could've been thrown at a player.

It's funny though......even though we're holding these basketball players to the highest degree of restraint....no one is holding these drunk ass crazy fans who start shit. I say, lets push em back, away from the court. Phuck trying to keep it "Cozy". These basketball players are human, just like Police officers, who are supposed to show restraint vs. unarmed people, but don't. And america comes up with all kind of excuses on why a cop wouldn't be able to do it.

I expect a standard to be upheld in this one. For all "Professionals"....including the cops who beat the dog piss out of someone who spits on em.

superflu is really reaching here - the fan that threw the cup is the only "thug" I saw - did anybody hear his crap lies on an interview he did with his lawyer - the asshole is as bad a liar as he is a person

i didn't say he was thowing the cup for no reason. but you make it sound like he ran up and pelted artest in the face at point blank range. the video i saw, he's a few rows back and underhand/sidearms the drink towards the general melee. maybe he was trying to hit artest, but clearly he wasn't trying to inflict actual damage.

and why do you mention career ending injuries if you concede that it wouldn't be a cup of beer that would cause one? you seem to on one hand lambast cops for shooting first then asking questions later and give a big high five to a basketball player who does that very thing.

i find the two divergent viewpoints this incident has revealed to be VERY interesting.

so lemme get this straight. if there's an asshole in the crowd who steps over the line, all bets are off? the players have free reign to do anything they want to anybody in the stands?

so let's pretend you're in the stands at a game and some drunken idiot decides to throw his drink at a player on the bench. the player freaks out and starts pummeling you because he thinks you did it. i take it, you have no illwill towards the player who dislodged a few of your teeth -- rather, you blame the fan who threw the cup?

I'm sorry officer, I just shot that gun up in the air. I didn't aim it at anybody so that should make it ok even though I drilled that old lady in the head and killed her....

Who he meant to hit is not the issue.

Everyone is wrong here. Everyone. Fans, players....

what he^^^^^^ said. Everyone involved is wrong - but the one that started the whole damn thing is the asshole with the cup - and when you add in his criminal history and his participation in the fight after and his utter bullshitting lies he started spouting as to his side of the story I hope he ends up back in jail again.

Artest is a punk, a loose cannon but he ain't the one that started it. My issue is with guys like superflu here that want to give the asshole the benefit of the doubt and have the viewpoint that "all NBA players are thugs."

"honestly, i'm not certain the guy with the beer meant to throw it at artest." :laugh1: :laugh1: :laugh1:

I bet you think Oswald didn't mean to asassinate Kennedy he only meant to fire a shot over his head and scare him.
