HIV/AIDS

I'm a RN at a drug and alcohol rehab center. Our Infection Control Nurse is retiring and nobody is stupid enough to apply for her job without a raise. So her duties are being divided up for the time being and I'm helping out with the Men's Issues class she usually teaches.

 

I'm really looking forward to the Hep C part. If anyone has any good web sites on the topic, please PM them to me.

Thanks for starting this - had thought about breaching the subject, to learn more, but never did. I'll hit some questions in once I'm more familiar.

 

I'm sorry I'm coming back to this question - and not to belabour the point...but even if say, you are performing oral sex on a chap and swallow it's still not likely that you can catch HIV? I know you said it's mainly blood to blood - and omitting other factors (an open sore, cuts etc) - it's still not likely?

 

Something I have often wondered about is how likely are you to get it, from sex, if you are a straight man. I have heard that you mostly get it from someone ejaculating inside you, hince the fluid transfer. Seems like this would not be true given the rates in some African countries but it seems to have some logic to it.

 

the acid in your esophagus and stomach will eat thru metal. The virus doesn't have much of a chance. So right- it's theoretically possible but highly unlikely. Again, the danger is in an open sore. Carry Listerine around with you for an after-fun swish.

 

In breeders, transmission from male to female is easiest which makes sense. But female to male transmission is possible, but less likely. Vaginal fluids have the HIV virus in it. Now imagine the penis having a cut or open area on it from... jerking off too much/too hard, recent rough sex, getting a blowjob from a bucktoothed woman etc.... Microscopic scrapes are there all the time.

Suggestions to straight men after unsafe sex..... wash your dick off with soap and water and take a piss! Get anything that got inside the urethra washed out.
