Looks an Iowa vs Tennessee Outback bowl, eh?

What are we betting if it happens?

We have had trouble with power teams.

It's weird. Balanced teams, Florida, Miami, we shut down. Power teams have had success. We have played better vs the run since Miami, our line is not getting blown off, but we have not played a real power team. It could be a real test.

And then, like the Auburn game, we will have to go more pass happy and spread, which is the only time we have looked real strong this year.

And that would kill that under bet.

If I were a betting man I would be wise to keep my money in my pocket when it comes to the Hawkeyes. They are over rated!
I was kind of hoping they'd play Auburn? Haven't heard anything locally that says where they are headed. For the most part, they have to wait and see if OSU gets an at large bid.
Iowa plays good D & ST's, but they are unpredictable on O with Big Foot, er um Chandler at QB.

We can come up with something good to bet other than money. Yall make or cook anything worth a damn in Iowa?

Texas will get one at large bid. OSU (6th in the BCS) will most likely the other over Tennessee (8th). The other possibility is LSU if they lose to Georgia. They have 11 wins, so its possible they could go ahead of OSU, but I've heard that the BCS bowl will only take one SEC school, believing they'll get better ratings with an OSU matchup vs Miami.

So in that case, the loser of the SECCG will go to the Capital One ( its still Citrus to me) to face Purdue. Outback then has the next choice between the Big Ten and SEC, and the next place finishers in the standings and rankings are UT and Iowa.

Now, if it does so happen that LSU, and not OSU, gets that at large bid, we'd move up to the Citrus and face Ohio State (egads), and yall would move down a notch. But that's not very likely even if LSU loses, apparently.

One thing to factor in, Purdue won't automaticaly go ahead of Iowa. In fact, since Iowa is the better "travel team" of the two, many feel Iowa will get the better bowl.
Do I agree with this line of thinking...NO!!! Purdue kicked Iowa's ass and deserves the better bowl. But since the bowlsters only care about the money, they'll end up picking the better travel team.
Hell if Notre Dame were 6-6, they'd probably be getting the Jan. 1 nod.

Jesus, I wish they'd just institute a playoff. They could do it pretty easily with out losing all the bowl games. Plus they could add a couple in there...I am going to stop before I rant.

    preach it.

I've heard that as well. At the same time, I've heard we could go to the Cap One Bowl with a UGA loss. So who knows for sure.

The only reason for all the speculation and buzz is that there isn't a clearly defined playoff system. Speculation creates drama, I say screw the drama and get it right w/ in clearly defined peramiters.
I think I drew up something that allowed the BCS to stay in tact (rankings that is). It allows the six BSC bowl games to act as round one of the playoffs with the top 12 teams. #1 vs. #12, #2 vs. #11 ect...Same allignment for round two...round three, the top remaining seed gets a bye to the championship. That allows for something like 5 more Bowl games.
Some variation of that might be prefered to avoid lengthening the season too much, say the top six duel it out.
Either way, the other existing bowls still get to pick from the remaining teams and make their millions and it is a more true playoff.
Something needs to be done though, the current system sucks!

Drop the big East, take the 5 champs, top remaining 3 BCS teams get in. Rotate all the big bowls. Simple.

Make it ALL the conference champs and the top independent if they are at 3 losses or less and I'd buy that...but the bowlsters won't.
