You don't fire your chief playcaller and the man who designs/coaches your staple blocking schemes w/o some hint of philisophical tweak in mind.

There was nothing particularly wrong with the scheme, and I very seriously doubt that Fox would even be asked to open things up. I think Henning was just a scapegoat for the disappointing season.

Which is why I know this JR's call. Fox is not a moron, and certainly not in the business of scapegoating capable assistants.

There are plenty of offenses that are conservative that don't suck. This isn't one of them, it seems, more often than not. And let's be real here - Dan Henning either deserved to go or didn't. Let's not pretend Fox did something for the fans or for Jake.

You can like the philosophy, and dislike the decisions. This was my problem with it, and certainly, getting something produced in the run game is what's in mind when you fire your OC and OL coaches. If Skipper didn't have the tenure and asst. head coach title, he'd have possibly gone, too. They wanted some change.

Whether that change includes philosophy, I don't know, and I'd doubt. But certainly, they wanted change.

I'm somewhat torn too, because I respect Henning, but we're stale as hell offensively. The biggest way I think I'll really miss him is the good interviews and I don't believe he gave one this year.

And I don't feel like we could get worse on OL because of a different coach and I don't feel we were ever gonna get much better with him. Bye Maser:waving:

I'm guessing Gamble seemingly taking a step back may have reflected on Perry or maybe somebody Fox has coveted is or is about to become available.

You must have been living on a different planet than me. I couldn't be happier.

Edit = he USED to be OK. IMO. Time for somebody new.

He didn't. You even said that yourself before you changed your mind and decided that he deserved to go. His play-calling was fine, and it was certainly not a primary cause of our offensive struggles this season.

    SS:
That's because you've always been irrationally biased against Henning. Even after it was repeatedly pointed out that Jake is the one who audibled to that fade against Philadelphia, you continued to blame Henning. The problem is that you lack the knowledge to make sound football judgments and you have stubbornly clung to a position that has been invalidated.

I couldnt be happier either, but technically Henning has been one of our better ones. I think Haskill was the best. He left after it was clear we favored Musgrave over him.

Our others: Pendry, Musgrave, Williamson. All worse than Henning. I'm a little sad for Henning too. I wish him a nice life, and acknowlege he gave us some good momments. Its a rough business, though. Time to move on.

I don't think Henning was never any good, but we definitely need somebody new with some imagination. Predictability on offense had become our middle name.
