I wanted Crossman gone, but I'm OK with him staying, as long as he learns from his mistakes. The coaches fired were very experienced coaches. Agree totally on Hankton and McAdam. The realiable person on the email list who was told there would be a staff change also was told there will be player changes too. We'll hear about those in about a month I guess.

That's why I want a change. I want a change of philosophy. Something different. I'm not football smarts enough to know what, but I'm wanting to be a little less conservative. Hopefully Fox will let the new OC try something new.

Regardless of how we feel, Delhomme is most likely the guy next year. It's make or break for him. As fans, we have to have faith that Jake can get out of his funk and get the offense back on track. As insurance, we probably get a solid vet backup and hope he can push.

If Schott were fired, SD (logically) would promote Cam.

I was pointing out that San Diego's offense basically is what we run, although obviously with some different variations and points of emphasis. The main differences are that they've emphasized stronger linemen and they have LT. As for changes, I hope we'll be a little more flexible and use less lead action on our runs, but I don't expect the offense to be too different. If the next OL coach can get those guys in the weight room, while Wharton and Hartwig come back at full strength, I think we'll be fine on that front. Third downs will still come down to Jake not fucking up anymore, though.

Billick being billed as an offensive genius has been debated by many people, not the least of which was Johnny Unitas--I spoke to him, man must be 8-9 years ago now, and he was saying less than flattering things about him then. So, no, I didn't think Baltimore vastly improved offensively when Fassel was let go.

If you promote from within, who is the leading candidate?

Skipper, presumably. I have no means of judging the quality of that decision, but it doesn't excite me. Strictly in terms of play-calling I'd rather have someone proven like Fassel, although that could cause other problems.

I am torn from wanting an in-house promotion and an outsider with some new ideas....
