so which way do we go now? we didn't have the right parts for Hennings system to work this year. I guess we will try and make the OL work with Foster running a handfull of sweeps:supergrin:

I guess we can add TE back into the picture at #14 now.

Zack Miller is awesome from ASU. Funny thing is, he was noted as a great blocker as well as having exceptional hands.

    Maybe a wee tradedown first.

    Panthers fire offensive coordinator Henning
Fox: 'This is a very difficult decision'
    Associated Press

    JEFF SINER [email protected]
Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Dan Henning watches the team run through offensive formations during pre-game warmups in late December against the Atlanta Falcons with quarterback Brett Basanez. The Carolina Panthers fired offensive coordinator Dan Henning and two other assistants Monday, two weeks after finishing a disappointing 8-8 season.

Offensive line coach Mike Maser and secondary coach Rod Perry were also let go.

"This is a very difficult decision because these coaches have played an integral role in the success we have experienced since coming to the Panthers," coach John Fox said. "They were part of a Super Bowl and two NFC championship games and those accomplishments would not have been possible without their contributions."

The Panthers struggled on offense and failed to make the playoffs, hurt in part by numerous injuries on the offensive line. But Henning's playcalling also came under question as Carolina struggled to run and get the ball to receiver Steve Smith.

From SI's Peter King, in his article Monday Morning Quarterback, the section titled "The Fine Fifteen":

    15. (tie) Carolina (8-8). The Lions outscored the Panthers this year by 35 points. Buffalo outscored 'em by 30. You've got your work cut out, Dan Henning.

No wonder he's gone. That's pretty sad - to be the pre-season Super Bowl pick and to end up being outscored by the Lions and the Bills. Sad.

    Shit.

Henning I can see. Surprising, but I can see it. I am shocked they didnt let him "retire", but then maybe they tried. Maybe Henning knew his days were done, and didnt want to "retire" from the Panthers and then go get a gig with Parcells, and be looked at as a traitor, after he knew the truth, that he got fired.

Rod Perry? Well, why though? I mean....I guess.

Maser doesnt get a pass beause of injuries? Either way, a secret part of me is content with his firing, but I feel really worried about that.

Why not Crossman? Really, whats up with that? He hasnt shown that hes capable, and if three capable guys are going to be let go in a mini bloodbath, then why not the incapable ones too???
