The Gaston Gazette reports Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Dan Henning denied rumors that he might be joining the Dallas Cowboys next season if Bill Parcells is hired as their head coach. “I never discussed anything of that nature with him [Parcells], and don’t plan to unless he’s looking for some counsel,” Henning said. “I’m under contract here. I came here to coach, to help John [Fox].”

You know, alot of people say alot of shit about Henning, but I'll say this:

The 4 close games that we lost, we lost on defense. Maybe we could have won them if we put up more points, but we lost them on defense. We had the lead. The Defense gave up big plays, and we lost.

The fact that we won 6 games with the players on offense is a credit to the staff, Henning included. I also think the fact that Parcells would want Henning is a credit to Henning.

Stick with the system, not time to give up.

True, but when we had the lead we'd back off offensively. I remember this much.
The other thing we'd do is go man-free, and teams eat that up as well. So whatever coaching changes overall happen with a late lead, we tend to make the wrong ones.

He's improved. But I'd still let him go if he's able and asking. We can do better. We took him as second-to-last resort and we must have a QBs coach here as well.

Larry - what you missed in the article?

?>>Peete said Henning spoke to him about the possibility of leaving Carolina for Dallas if Parcells takes the job.
