Whatever dude... I sat right there and said Winky is our starter, I'm not pitching Fasani to start the regular season. But either Dallas second stringers are that much stronger or our guys just had an off night. Had Fasani not had the athletisim to move out of the pocket, he'd probably be needing shoulder surgery now. I also would not call if Flavor of the day. I'm pretty consistent with the players I support or don't.

I like your casual reference to witht he exception of Foster... thats funny. He only opened up with a 61 yard run... that and the big pass to Bright in the last game is probably what kept some pressure off our line last week. I would have expected Winky to do better with an improved L. Smith and Foster coming in...

Here's a change Donnalley started over James... now I'm not saying he's a BETTER O-Line player or that made ALL the difference but the 1st unit looked MUCH better this week they seemed to be more gelled as opposed to last week and likewise the 2nd unit was weak... anyone think this could have made any difference???

Fasani- he proved what I said last week... he has talent now once he understands the game better (he has happy feet) he'll be starter material... hopefully he'll reach that point and not be another Jeff Lewis... well actually he's already better than Lewis... but you get my point

Foster - even with Smith having a MUCH better week than last Foster again proves he's the better RB at this point... I also like the fact he was used in more recieving plays

2nd/3rd Team RBs - What happened to Nick Goings and Dee Brown being the next in line on the depth chart?? Why was Joe Montogmery inserted first... can't say I understand that

Kasay - Looked good to have been gone about 2-3 weeks now

Weinke - May be the best passes I've seen him throw in a Panther's Uniform

Pepper - He played like a man on a mission... he knew what the press had been saying... and came out to prove them wrong.

Morgan - Sometimes I think he gets over shadowed by Peppers this year... maybe this will be a good thing when teams forget about him, but he was hurt much of last year so we were never able to see his full potential... I think he'll open some eyes this year

Bates - Well question is do we go and try to find a WR to help since Smith will be doing all the returning... do we go get another returner... OR do we stick with what we have??? (BTW that looked a little cheap what they did... I mean I know it happens all the time in Football, but this is preseason and it kinda looked like they were trying to take the guy out... cheap move in a preason game IMO)

    >>I bet there are a lot of fans that would love to see Fasani get him some first string action in one of these last preseason games.

Yes, because fans love to see guys run around and be outside the pocket and make plays. Me, I like to see a guy stand in there and get it done - whether he gets hit or not, that he was able to actually stand there and throw the ball. Standing in there means eluding the rush, not varying degrees of taking off.

    >>I would have expected Winky to do better with an improved L. Smith and Foster coming in...

Of course you would have. A good game isn't enough for Weinke, and a career game's average. We know the game, we've played it before. Didn't want to then, either.

    >>With the exception of Foster, didn't Fasini play with virtually the same people ie o-line? What changed from last week to this?

Same OL. Didn't have Mangum, but he never utilized the TE. The line was the exact same. The receivers were the same.

He didn't get the multitude of breaks that he got last week - they were able to make the change and actually cover him when he'd bootleg because By God he was going to end up on the right side of the field. They were able to make the easy assumption and it rattled him. He didn't have the running game either, but most third stringers dont' have a first string RB nor should they need one to be in the pocket where he's asked to be.

Brain - I didn't feel like Smith had that much better a game. He did well in the passing game, which he had to, but Foster was about equal. And yeah, Donnalley does look to be the better player right now IMO. It works well with what we have.

speaking of helping themselves, i watched the re-run this morning and noticed that fred vinson was the first string nickle back. does this mean jenkins may get cut?

very good chance if he doesn't improve his play... then again w/ Dante Wesley on the shelf he may stay on until Wesley's return... but so far I'm thinking

    Starters:
    -Terry Cousin
    -Reggie Howard
    Reserves:
    -Fred Vinson
    -Steve Israel

    That Leaves:
    -Dante Wesley
    -Cordell Taylor
    -DeRon Jenkins
    -Brad Franklin

So of those last 4 who stays on and who goes??

No I don't mean Smith played better than I mean it was MUCH better than -4 yards... I think that had a lot to do with the starting O-Line working together better this game... my point was even though Smith looked like he could be used as a starter this year, I still think Foster looked better... he was more explosive and can make things happen when it looks like they're about to fall apart

Having not seen ANY game film, I can not commment. I can only hope we stop showing Fox how we finish off an opponent, or I should say, not finish.

Gotcha. No doubt that we're back to feeling pretty decent about both backs now.
