Helped? Anthony Bright again had a nice game. One his 22 yard play he came back to help a scrambling QB. Hard to remember the last receiver that did that for the Panthers. Lamar Smith had a solid game in his short time. As much as Foster has shined in preseason, Smith isn't going down without a fight. Weinke reaffirmed he was the starter. What was it 3 incompletes? Steve Isreil took over for Bates and did ok IMO

Hurt? Fasani looked extremely ordinary tonight. Over threw a couple of times and just didn't have that solid of a game. Dumb Dallas defensive plays couldn't even save him from himself. Special teams all around looked pitiful

    Agree PP.

Bright looked real, real good and should get plenty of playing time this season.

Lamar Smith looked very solid (not spent) but Foster was oh my god ya gotta be kidding awesome looking. Smith will get some work but Foster is the man.

Weinke looked like a seasoned pro. Still would like to see more passion/fire outa him -- very boring style. Was surprised that nearly everything he threw was short stuff. Think he completed 1 of 3 long passes that I can remember (though we got a pass interference on the one to Moose -- who didn't drop a ball tonite). I think 80% or more of his passes were to the right. His passes to the left were pretty much on the money (he was accurate as hell tonite -- only 2 bad balls that I can remember. One long pass to Smith, right before the TD, to the left into double coverage that had no chance for anything but interception. The other was in our 2-minute drill with 3rd and one he threw a horrible ball out to the right flat that had interception and TD for Dallas written all over it.) In summary, he was very composed and accurate. But to only score 13 points with the way our defense dominated -- well the offense isn't exactly cooking yet.

Israel handled the punts well but isn't going to bust anything. Thought he played well at CB too.

Fasani looked very much the rookie tonite. Like Mag says he's scrambling out of the pocket too much. Did make some nice throws with good zip (also at least a couple of bad throws) and showed alot of moxie and passion and scrambles really well. Keeps his wits about him and is into the game. I will definitely root for this kid. He's a talent but not sure I'm ready to adorn him the second coming of Steve Young.

Punt coverage was very suspect all game long but especially in 2nd half. Botched FG attempt. Both kickers looked real good.

Steve Smith looked good at WR. Great quick adjustment on TD. Burned the CB on a slant route for a nice gain. Needs to work on TD dance -- very weak IMO.

Hankton dropped 2 balls and quit on a third.

Nesbit got burned for a sack. Terry, Mitchell and James looked strong IMO. 2nd half OL was awful for the most part.

First string DL and LBs all looked awesome tonite (but Emmit wasn't playing and I think they were missing a couple of the OL starters). DL was constantly making plays in D's backfield. Peppers and Morgan looked all-world tonite. Jenkins and Ruckers were tearing it up. As were Naives and Fields (who had a crushing tackle). Completely stuffed D's running game.

Second string DL and LBs were very unimpressive -- with maybe the exception of Wallace would showed a consistently strong pass rush and maybe got a sack and forced a fumble. Oh, and K. Minor made a couple of real strong tackles. Keyed on Witherspoon several times and he looked lost and easily blocked outa plays. Did have good pass coverage. Jackson did not impress me much. Towns was strong on runs up the middle but late on plays out wide. He was fighting hard though. Brian Allen looks like a talent but he took at least one bad penalty and missed a couple of tackles. He's quick though and plays with a passion. He may stick on potential.

Grant had a near interception. Cousins looked like total crap to me. Will be surprised if he hangs on to starter job. Israel looked better to me. Jenkins didn't look bad though I don't know that he ever did defend a pass. Did make a real nice play against the run when Dallas had 3rd down at our 5. Howard looked real solid. Vinson looked like crap -- gave way too much cushion. Minter had a good game as did Coop (who, along with Sauerbrun, had some of the best hits of the night). Apparently, the NFL has a new rule that doesn't allow punters to posture over an opposing playing after smacking the f**k outa them. Thought Coop took bad angles a couple of times and didn’t contain the runner.

They took a long look at Montgomery in the 2nd half (even giving him the ball on a sweep on a 3rd and 7 play to set up our botched FG -- I thought Henning called a good game but that call was like what the ... our OL in the 2nd half was terrible and that call had no chance -- why not let Fasani throw or scramble?). Mont didn't do much but he didn't have much space and was usually getting tackled in the backfield as soon as he touched the ball. Fox seems to be in his corner though as he got all excited on probably the one nice little run he had. Goings and D. Brown did not get a chance to show much tonite -- I didn't think. Goings had a couple of nice plays until that fumble at the end.

Team needs to address STUPID penalties as they were killing us tonite.

On the TV it looked as though the Fans continue to suck and Fox was begging for them to get a little enthusiasm going there in the first half when we were kicking the cowpokes asses.

Coaches should have challenged on the "lateral" -- would have been about an 8 yard loss. Perplexes me that we miss out on those opportunities. Seifert was horrible at challenging -- hoping for a change in that area.

I have not seen the O line give a QB that kind of protection since Capers. You all remember that first half. That is what a team that is giving a hundred percent looks like. Good job by the starting D. Peppers looked like he was proving himself tonight. I hope he keeps that 'tude.

    Worst - 2nd Team O line
    2nd Worst - Special Teams

Overall I was pleased to see Winky's good play. Its a relief. I think his biggest opportunity is clock management. This was a problem for him last year. As seen in the closing moments of the first half, a time out or two could have helped. This can be worked on.

Fasani played well again, despite no line. That boy took a beating. He reminds me of ole Steve B in regards to taking a beating, those 2 guys are tuff cookies. Fasani also had 3rd & 4th string runners in. (Who is Montgomery?) Fasani did throw behind his receivers a bit which was largely due to pressure. (No blcoking) Bright dropped one he should have caught.

Steve Smith needs to stay at WR but he needs to be on Receiving for Kick offs/ not punts.

Good game overall - still optimistic.

Well, I went to this game this time. End zone tickets. Sat in front of Cowboy fans, who left while we were ahead. Wusses.

At least there was some chanting on our part.

Good to see the first string play well, even if a couple of their starters are out. On D, our front 7 played well. Navies was active in filling his side, didn't overpursue. Morgan was everywhere. Our front 4 controlled the line of scrimage, and I can't remember when the last time that has happened. Jenkins was active. Peppers and Rucker abused their guys. Even Buckner got the better of his man. No where to run to baby, no where to hide. Even Grant made some plays. A little better timing on his break, he'd had that INT for a TD, over shot it by just a tad. Just off his finger tips still.

Weinke was sharp. The only negative thing was having to burn those timeouts. But he was sharp and accurate. I'd forgotten how many WR screens Henning's offense had in it. Looked like those little hitch routes Monk would run. Smith put a solid stake in the #2 reciever spot. Om the TD, he pushed off a bit to get room, but hey, they never call that. That was Hayes problem, not physical enough, always crying to the refs about the other guy holding. Smith just fought back and won.

Offensive line: 1st string run blocking was strong straight ahead at the point of attack. When we try to pull or trap the timing is just off. Those long developing run plays just are not our strength. Smith's big runs all came on straight ahead run blocking, and made one upfield cut and hit the hole. Purely a north south runner.

Second String: Fasani was not as effective. He did have pressure, but even when he didn't he looked uncomforatable in the pocket. He was rushing his throws even when there was no pressure, and the result was some poorly thrown balls behind his recivers, bounced to his recievers, ect. Too many of those. His best pass came on the roll out, to Bright. On another roll out, Bright kept going downfield instead of coming back to his QB. Rookie mistake.

Still, you've got to be able to hit those middle crossing and slant routes, and Fasani struggled with those timing patterns greatly. Of course, having to run away from protection will cause you to be unsettled, so that when you get protection a lot of young QBs will do things like Fasani did. He'll learn from it.

The flea flicker play would have been big, if the running back (Montgomery?) hadn't thrown the ball behing Fasani. Bright was open.

We've got an interesting battle brewing for that last RB spot. Going s looked better at H-bakc than tail back. Montgomery just sucks. And then there is Brown, who seems to fit a bit better as a returner. With Bates out, that could be key.

don't remember Bright dropping a ball.

OL did a nice job in first half but it wasn't like Weinke was sitting back there reading the paper. Most of his throws were quick hitters. Nesbit looked awful on the play he got beat for a sack. Was impressed that they were opening some big holes for the running backs. Second half OL looked horrible. Fasani and Montgomery had almost no chance. Impressed with Fasani. He's a competitor.

overall team looked good. offensive design seemed excellent for most part and caused Dallas trouble. especially like the deep pass call on 3rd and 3 to Moose (probably cuz it worked -- got the interference call). liked the defensive calls by Del Rio. seemed like nice timing and design on blitzes.

except for not really. Fasani took some hits, but they were all incidental and out of the pocket. If he'd stood in there and thrown, then I'd be willing to allow that statement, but he neither looked "good" nor stood in. He hadn't the blocking, nor the running, that he had last week, but a quarterback does have to stand in the pocket and deliver the ball. All he's shown in two weeks is that he can throw a ball straight from the sideline to the sideline 20 yards up from him. Athleticism is great, but I want to see him be a quarterback.

Sounds like you might have missed a good bit of the second half. He took 3 direct hits while still in the general area of the pocket. 2 of those were after he released the ball 1 was when he was blindsided, 1 of those three drew a roughing the passer, the other should have as well.

Bottom line as one of you guys pointed out, he had niether the blocking or the running he did last week. Winky got him some Foster and much improved L. Smith.

Overall, no arguments here (surprise) Winky is performing better and is the obvious starter. I like Fasani's potential and think he has more "tools". I'm willing to give and concede the nod to Winky, I bet there are a lot of fans that would love to see Fasani get him some first string action in one of these last preseason games. ;)

And on that note, Melvin Tuten still sucks.

With the exception of Foster, didn't Fasini play with virtually the same people ie o-line? What changed from last week to this? Funny how it is never Sandmans flavor of the day players fault. I just think he played an average game, not necessarily bad.
