Over usage of the computer and as you said, driving in that same position. You need a good neuromuscular massage and a break from the computer.
Try to take frequent breaks while working. It could last for weeks and come and go before it finally goes away.

I've had it and the way it was explained to me is this.... There is fluid in between your muscles that make them glide over each other. At some point, with it staying in the same position- the fluid dries out for lack of a better word. Anti inflammatories, lots of fluid and not putting it in that bind for a few days will help and possibly make it go away. Still, it will happen again easily if you don't change your habits. I sometimes lay flat on the floor for a few minutes a day when I feel it becoming tense, with my arms out flat completely relaxed. After that I sit up and rotate my neck around stretching it. The trick is becoming totally relaxed, it's tough and you have to concentrate, but you can do it.
If after a few weeks it doesn't go away, you very well could have a pinched nerve in your neck and should see someone. The numbness in hand- is it all fingers, partial fingers, wrist or palm?

I've got it too and I wondered if that wasn't what it might be. What a pain!

I need to use the computer for work, so any relaxation techniques are greatly appreciated!
