    From my limited exposure...

Isn't Kid Rock just some ugly ass redneck that raps over samples? The samples happen to be from cool bands, but that is pretty much it. Right?

If NOT, please suggest a few songs for me to download. Maybe I've been all wrong about this guy.

"Country and blues is the biggest shit ever," Kid Rock says, "and it always will be. I'm talking about the Stones, Skynyrd, Zeppelin, the biggest bands that ever were had a country and blues influence, that's where it all stems from. Kids might hear my record and not even know what they're listening to. I didn't when I was young, but it became apparent when I became older. This common thread through music was the blues. And country's just the White Man's Blues."

bob ritchie (kid rock) may just be a 'neck from detroit, but he's got a heck of a musical background. he's no overnight player either, he's been making music for about 13 years now. he's just become a commercial success in the past 3 or so years after changing his sound a bit and releasing devil without a cause.

he cites many artists as his influences and jams with about as wide a range of artists as you can imagine, from hank jr. to snoop dogg. he's definately leading music in a different direction -- which is a good thing. it's a big pile of goo these days. at least someone is pushing that pile somewhere it hasn't been.

he's a freak, too. he puts porn stars in his albums, videos and concerts. he actually could have probably been a comercial success earlier in his career had he not been so filthy -- constantly singing about blow jobs and going down on women.

Kid is a cool guy. He does have talent. But muscially, i don't know how deep bawitadaba is. Anybody can prasie hank Jr. and Snoop Dogg, doesn't make them musical leaders though. He's got some cool stuff. Rap metal can only last so long though. He is far better than the egotistical, untalented, Korn shirt tail riding Fred Durst. Now there is someone that I wish would have taken Waylon's place. I'm just waiting on the next punk movement that isn't lead by Green Day and Blink 182. I feel a darker more heavier version of punk on the way. I'm excited. If you want the heaviest music on the face of the planet, pick up Slayer's Undisputed Attitude: the ultimate punk tribute album. Incredible.

he's not just giving them props, they -- and even the likes of sheryl crowe -- come out to his place in michigan and jam with him and the band.

"I'm just into cool sounds," Rock says, "whether it's a vocoder or a lap steel, man, they both have these phenomenal sounds to them that I really wanted to capture. I like a wide variety of music, and that's cool in a lot of ways - it might expose people to a lot more music. There's a lot more music than just mine out there that I think people should listen to."

freak, download "drunk in the morning" and "midnight train to memphis" to hear a little bit of a different version of kid rock than the commercial bawitdaba.

    i like "bullgod" myself.

Ive been told that Kid Rock is Hank Williams Jr's son. Is that true or is someones leg being pulled? Oh I dont like Hank Jr either but I do like Hank Sr songs. Still hiding behind the door so I dont get hit with something that Larry may want to throw at me.

He IS scary looking. God only knows what Pam Anderson smokes to make her fall for these ugly guys. He must have a talent we don't know about....;)

His new CD was quite a surprise for me. But just when I was thinking it was pretty good...along comes Snoop and UGH is that song nasty.

there's gonna be a Hank Jr. and Kid Rock Special coming up on CMT some time soon I saw the commercial today... check your local listings... but my point is Kid Rock does have tallent... I will admit he samples some but most mainstream artist now do that... he has a soulful sound and I like his music... sure he's a bit redneck but you're talking to people in NC that's like the pot calling the kettle black

No, Hank Jr's son is Hank Williams III. I saw him play at a club up here in the "Ville a few years ago. He wasn't that great, just getting by on his name.
