I hate seeing Thomas leave though. He has a bright future ahead of him.

I heard that Smoltz re-upped for two years and is going to be a starter again too. :xyzthumbs

Of course now they need a closer.

yep. they got danny kolb a week or so ago.

traded off eli marrero too. looks like something else will happen to get a outfielder with drew, marrero, and thomas all out of the picture. some say sosa. some say chipper back out to the outfield and pickup ensberg, randa or hillenbran.

The starting staff of the Braves in 2005 may be as good as they have ever had and that's saying something. The potential is there.Hudson if healthy is one of the best starters in baseball.Smoltz back as a starter.Ramirez was Atlanta's best starter last season before his injury. From my understanding he is healthy and ready for spring training.Hampton as a 4th starter and Thompson as a 5th starter is not bad at all.Kolb should be fine as the closer.

A little fine tuning with the middle relief and this will be a killer staff.

As a Phillie fan I say FU(K Hudson is a stud. Congrats on fleecing the A's (my second favorite team)

Agreed they do need somebody else to shore up the middle relief. A few pieces on the other side of the ball and they will have a really good team. I don't see them doing the same on offense though unless they can make a move or two on that side though. JD had a good year, but may be gone and if he does come back I don't see him repeating that effort.

Braves must still have the deepest farm system out there - they're always trading away one or two prospects to get a guy from the majors, and they're probably doing it twice a year.

That is actually what they are best at. They draft really good and develop their players probably in the top 3 of all teams. I would like to see them move a few more of those players into the pros on their team versus trading them right when they are ready to make the jump.
