Why I don't know, but Cedar Rapids Gazette Columnist Mike Hlas gets a ballot in the Heisman vote. The guy is a complete ass, about as non-objective a reporter I ever worked with. I used to proof his stuff and would point out that he repeated him self numerous times in one article (his inches are somehow phalic to him?). He always yelled at me and said it was "for effect"...then the Editor would take it out anyway?
    Enough on my rant...
They printed his ballot on the front page of the sports today.

    1. Banks
    2. Palmer
    3. Terrell Suggs???

OK, Suggs is great and all that, but at least TRY to vote objectively. That might be the ONLY vote Suggs...probably trying to ensure that none of the Miami boys get his point with the third vote.
I wounder how much of this goes on?

Pretty much every vote is my guess.

Particuarly in a year like this, when their is no clear cut winner, regional influences, politicking (ass kissing), and bias rule.

Suggs. That's criminal. I mean, I could see LJ over Doresy or McGahee, 2000 yards and all. But Suggs? At least he didn't slight Palmer. I'm suprsided it didn't look like this...

    1. Banks
    2. Wallace
    3. Lorenzon

I know this guy well enough to know that he would NEVER cast a vote for a Penn State player. He used to rag on me for being a PSU fan.
"How can you be a PSU fan when you were born and raised in Iowa?" In that question lies the answer!
He had a fit when PSU joined the Big 10 & his column after the Iowa/PSU overtime fiasco was completely one sided. He acted like Iowa blew them out.
I am ranting again...but I really hate elitist Sports columnist.

While I am at it, you mention Wallace...
Anyone notice how Lee Corso would shimmer everytime he said his name early in the season. At that point the Hiesman was his and NO ONE could tell Lee different. Then came the OU game, suddenly Corso developed amnesia. Hasn't so much as mentioned him since...on any level. Suddenly he jumped on the Dorksey bandwagon and hasn't waivered since.

I tell ya, that flavor of the month shit gets real annoying

The way I see it, if you remember Collins and Carter in '94, neither Dorksey or McGahee will get it. They'll split too many votes. Johnson will get some votes from the East as well as the Midwest, Banks pretty much has the Midwest in hand & Palmer will get high numbers in the West.

Johnson has the 2 grand on his side, but I don't know that that will be enough.
Palmer is obviously the most improved player in ALL of college FB.
Then there's Banks, who could disagree that he is the biggest story in college FB this year. Before the season started the Hawks were picked to finish in the lower half of the Big 10. Banks and a better than anyone thought D shot them to the top. Take away a second half meltdown against Iowa State and the Fiesta would feature Iowa and Miami.

I couldn't pick any one of those three over the other to be totally honest.

I will close on this point. If Dorksey wins, the Heisman becomes a career acheivment award...and loses ALL credibility.

OH, and if Hlas had voted for Wallace...the high and might Hawkeye heavy Board at the Gazette would have had him removed from the planet.
For some reason, it's not healthy to support the Cyclones in any way in Eastern Iowa...Wallace didn't rebound anyway, thus, doesn't deserve any votes.

    No, but neither does Suggs.
Purely a choice not to get any of the other deserving candidates a vote.

My ballot would look like this.

    1. Palmer
    2. Banks
    3. LJ

McGahee's performance vs Tech will take away a lot of Dorsey votes IMO. I think McGahee is the better back, but its hard to argue with 2000 yards at the college level.
