Does drinking soft drinks increase it that much? I drink maybe 2 soft drinks a day in addition to coffee and lately I have been getting "kick you in the nuts" hurting heartburn in the afternoon. I tend to eat too fast so this may contribute to it

both those things, as well as eating too much, can be curbed to alleviate some heartburn.

Yes they can. They seem to be worse early in the morning or right before bed. I used to drink 5 or 6 a day and was having a major problem, lucky I have good kidneys though. Now I only have 1 or 2 a week, usually with Makers on the weekend, haven't had heartburn but only once or twice in the last 4 or 5 months.

I am going to start taking those today. One cup of joe this morning and 2 sodas and I got it bad now. Granted I woffed down lunch in like 10 minutes due to 101 things going on with me

Chocolate and lack of sleep can lead to Heart burn as well.

As far as Diet sodas go, I drink Diet Right No Caffien or Sodium and that new Diet Green Tea by Nestlee I think.

You might find this link useful Paul. I've pretty much given up on all carbonated drinks - especially those using sweetner based products. That, and all sweetners (equal etc). The damage to my liver was astounding. Blood results came back that I had the liver of an alcoholic - and I drink about once every six months. If I have to have it sweetened, I use either Manuka honey or raw sugar.
