[font=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]If you think critics can be cruel, just wait until you buy yourself an HDTV.

High Definition Televisions are the wave of the future, and programming is already beginning to become available for the big screen sets, while their prices are starting to fall.

They’re popular not only because of the size and the sound, but the quality of the image.

Done properly, HDTV can allow you to see every blemish and scar on a star’s face, that even make-up can’t hide.

Which brings us to a trade magazine called ONHD.TV, and its list of the stars one article predicts simply won’t survive the transition to the truly big screen.

And the worst looking actress who’ll suffer by comparison is predicted to be Cameron Diaz (top left).

Authors warn the 32-year-old Charlie’s Angels star “looks more like a Charlie than an angel" when exposed to the HD camera lens.

Others on the list who might want not to be seen in the new format include Britney Spears, Brad Pitt and – in an irony lost to no one – Joan Rivers.

But what HDTV takes away, it can also give back. And the same article makes clear that certain celebrities will definitely benefit from new technology.

Topping that list? Tennis star Anna Kournikova, who the magazine claims looks “unbelievable” on camera.

But there is one hitch - a tiny mole on her forehead that on the big screen, “looks like Mt. Everest.”

It’s not likely any of the people in the negative column will really be forced to give up their careers.

But it did happen when silent flicks gave way to talkies. And Hollywood is notoriously fickle. So this could be one case where extra exposure may be the last thing the stars want to experience.

ONHD.TV List Of HDTV Winners & Losers

I saw Susan Serandan(spelling?) up close in 1986, and 19 years ago she looked old. So HDTV ain't going to do her any favors either.

So far the best HDTV feed I get is American Idol. I mean it is an awesome picture when viewed in 720p native. And Carrie Underwood is just a gorgeous girl....Paula Abdul looks pretty damn good in HiDef as well...

Carrie Underwood is awesome, I'll never watch the show again if she doesn't win by a landslide
