... why we've yet to see ANYTHING decent outta a Tight End outside Wesley Walls?

Sure maybe some aren't as athletic... but hell even Walls has lost a step, but if I were practicing every day with one of the better TEs in the league I'm thinking I'd pick up a thing or two... hell I'd be asking him what he does in certain situations... so do you think its they are just idiots and don't go to him for help or do you think he s an ass and does help them... or furthermore is it that they are SOOOOO bad and Walls has helped them to get THIS good??

    Just curious.

the offense, mainly. The WCO, even when we were using the ass horrible decision making of Williamson, uses the TE. You'd figure we'd have more to the TE even just off playaction, but nothing of worth. We have Walls running some odd shit out there.

I'm reaching here, so I'll state that up front... I love Walls, always have... he began to piss me off last year and even this year a remark here or there... Walls just seems like the kind of guy that from an ego perspective is not ready to fully help someone "fill his shoes" - he still thinks he should be part of the "scoring" game plan - IMO.

Something I learned mid-career was that you really never advance yourself or come to peace with yourself unless you have no fear of helping people beneath you understand and develope competencies in your job. There is nothing wrong with his attitude of wanting the ball, but I think its time for him - not the rookie or young player below him to step up and say hey "this is what I know, let me help you"

Walls one of the best TE in the business, its time to train your replacement, which means he may get more glory than you before you retire... swallow your pride and be a teacher.

Yep, you're reaching. Whatever it is, that ain't it.

I have noticed teams don't usually keep 2 top notch TE's on a roster and we've had bigger holes to fill than TE lately, up til this past week anyway.

OK, it takes a special "character" to know when his time is up. Thats what has always puzzled me about professional athletes that have played more than 10 years, in Walls case more than 12 years. He could be such a valuable source to this team if he would take on a mentor role versus a "ME" role. Its a shame, he will go down as one of the greats, no one can take that away from him. Its ashame he can't be comfortable in that and work to help the team and younger players at the expense of his own current day glory....

Walls didn't get a little worse this year. He got a lot worse. It's time to pack it up and build the statue.

any specific reason why we let casey crawford go?? he always looked decent, kinda on the verge. i'd be willing to bet he can catch a pass better than mangum.

is mangum starting to piss anyone else off but me???

Magnum is a vet now. He’s been coached and has seen everything Wesley can do. He just doesn’t have the talent to get it done. Not the speed or the hands, and never will, no matter who the mentor is.

We don’t have anything behind Wes because we’ve been cheap behind him. If we want to use a TE, and I’m not sure Henning does, we will have to invest something other than a sixth or seventh round pick.
