the word was that we were going to be on a plane the minute we could talk to him. we need him badly. i don't care what it costs.
stein is reporting that he is also the top target for the mavs. us being there quickly would go a long way to making this thing happen.
stupid charlotte media gives us nothing. i want to know what time the plane took off, what time we arrived, and what gerald was wearing when we got there.

Because the Bobcats can pay more than any other team, based on the Larry Bird exception. That would be really the only tangible reason.

He also at least seems to have a lot of loyalty to Charlotte. Combine that with the money, and I don't think he goes anywhere else.

Alas, Wallace is a free-agent. A source says his house is on the market. If it is, the MLS (multiple listing service) has no record of it. And there was a security guard to get past and a gate to get by Saturday, and I wasn't going to trespass. And even if his house is on the market, that doesn't mean he plans to skip town

this jrich trade could also have some bearing on whether he stays or not. this at least, shows that we are beginning to be serious about being winners now. another couple of years of building through the draft would have meant another couple of years of losing.

The Larry Bird exception does not apply here. That has to deal with teams being able to sign their own free agents even if it causes them to exceed the salary cap. The Bobcats have plenty of room, so that isn't a factor, although the Mavs won't have as much and therefore could only give him the money he wants via a sign and trade, which I doubt Charlotte would go along with anyway.

Not that much of a steal if Wallace signs elsewhere imo. No word of Carroll being offered anything either. I don't think Bob Johnson and his wallet are as committed to a winning team as MJ thinks it is.
