As a baptist parent of two small children, I will personally ensure that they read all the Harry Potter books, because as anyone with an open mind will tell you: the books are about people - not witchcraft.

so you are telling me that she has invented a "howling" letter and paintings that move and change scenery and talk to you and has a sorting hat that can delve into your mind and she made a flying car and she can go through a brick column to find the hidden train and she travels by flue powder and...

Open mind, you're baptist lips say? Is it so open that they read and they're not chastised for non-participation? Not true. In McDowell Co. where I reside, my nephew chose not to read the Harry Potter books along with his class because of he thought it was evil. At the time, an eight year old child who was not coerced by his parents to do this--to stand up to his teacher and said he felt uncomfortable because of the material. It just so happens there was a Bible in the book racks in his classroom. He picked it to read, but was strongly discouraged to read it because it wasn't comfortable to the teacher.

My nephew was then punished with zeros in his reading assignments and was punished by not being allowed to go play with the rest of his classmates all because he didn't feel comfortable with the evil material and chose God's Word instead.

Friend, you can't convince me that Harry Potter is of people, when it's of witchcraft packaged in the form of children's literature written by a WITCH! How come they couldn't read the stories of David & Goliath? Joshua and the Walls of Jericho? Daniel and The Lions Den, The Three Hebrew Children? Paul & Silas? We can't because six supreme court justices said we couldn't, but we could invite the devices of Satan in and indoctrinate our kids that it's ok to cast spells.

Friend, did you realize that witchcraft aka Wicca is now considered a religion? If we can't read The Bible in class, then the indoctrinization of witchcraft must also cease. Unless, The Bible can be returned without a problem.

Well, I hear its supposed to be uplifting even though it's fiction...

I see it as a WOLF in sheep's clothing... But I call J.K. "Howling" cause it rhymes with Rowling... Just as a joke..

Actually I have....And I found better things to read. Just finished a book called "NewJack" by Ted Conover, a writer who spends a year as a Corrections Officer at Sing Sing Prison in Ossining, NY. An amazing, YET TRUE story of what it's like in one of America's most ruthless prisons.
