It's one year out of HS or being 19 as of a certain date in the summer.

It's not two years of anything. You can go to D-League for a year, you can play overseas for a year, you can smoke dope for a year.

As for not being a Sheldon Williams fan, I thought I was the only dookie down on his game over the years. I give him credit for getting better offensively. He still isn't where he needs to be. He still fouls with the body too much, he still thinks he can hit threes, there's a lot about his game I don't like. What I DO like is his effort and intensity. I DO like him stealing inbound passes against FSU. I like that he makes FTs at a pretty decent clip for a big (notwithstanding the three bricks yesterday). Overall he's been a pretty frustrating player to watch over four years. He still trips over his feet like he's beginning to learn to walk.

I wouldn't put Tyler in his class overall, but he's clearly a superior offensive player. That doesn't impress me a ton though, Tyler reminds me of Kris Lang with some talent. They both play WAY too fast and out of control. Sheldon at least gathers himself when he makes offensive moves, gives more of a chance to draw a foul. I wouldn't trade Sheldon for Tyler, but the fact that I'd consider it when one is a frosh and one is a senior says a lot for Tyler. He's a fun player to watch, wish he was at duke.

take off the dark blue glasses. if you dont think tyler is in shelden's class, you must be on crack. hopefully, you are saying that right now, he isn't quite as good as shelden, keeping in mind that SheWill is a senior and hans is a freshman.....but anyone can see that if hans stays 4 years, shewill won't be considered comparable to him.

great analysis....you dug deep for that comparison. you looked at tyler, saw that he is a white dude with short hair....and you automatically compare him to lang. geez....you are a basketball genius. no one else could've come up with such a great comparison.

and speaking of drawing fouls....i really don't believe you've watched tyler play all year....if so, you would realize that tyler has taken 152 free throws, making 76% of them....while shelden has taken 165 free throws and is also making 76%. KEEP IN MIND THAT SHELDEN HAS PLAYED 3 MORE GAMES.

so, hansbrough shoots more free throws per game than shelden. next time you want to make a comparison, at least make an accurate one.

Oh I'm sorry, I forgot to mention National Defensive Player of the Year, and a Final Four. My bad, didn't mean to make an unfair comparison.

I wasn't comparing Tyler to Lang as a slam, or as a product of their skin color. I was merely commenting on their frenetic style of play for 40 min (not a slam?) and their unorthodox scoring methods. It's not a tough comparison to make, other than Lang had a lot more talent around him as a freshman and wasn't counted on as much.

edit--as far as free throw numbers, first off, Tyler is the number 1 option at UNC. Sheldon wishes he was number 2 at Duke, but really he scores a lot on forced feeds and putbacks. He doesn't and never has gotten the touches Tyler gets and will get in his career. Second, you took the FT% wrong. My 'positives' listed about SW were not intended as slams against TH. They were in response to the other dookie who is non-plussed about SW.

i don't remember saying that roy would never win a title, but then again i'm not saying that i didn't. i said that roy would never have a team as good as last years ever again. but that was before the nba instituted their new age limit. i'm not sure now. i've always thought that roy was a really good coach with a penchant for choking. and he did until last year. but he also won with pretty much someone else's players. i honestly thought carowhina would suck this year and i'm completely wrong on that.

i still don't like shelden williams. i also am getting fed up with k recruiting good players and not playing them.

Tyler Hansbrough is 20? and Shelden Williams is the #2 free throw option at Duke. He's really improved this year, and I have been pleasantly surprised at how well he has done on the offensive side of the ball. Paulus has better free throw numbers but he has been sucking on the line the past couple of games and his numbers are falling down near Williams. I think Paulus is at 82% and Williams is at 76 or 77. Any big man shooting over 75% from the line is fine with me. Hansbrough has been very good this year. He might be a better player next year, but he might only average 16 or 17 a game cause there will be a lot more talent around him. And what is the deal with UNC having white guards. Quit coming over into Duke's recruiting territory. Reminds me of the days of Dante Calabria. Hansbrough doesn't count cause UNC usually has a white center with Lang, Zwikker and Montross.
