Warren Spahn, 1/2 of the feared Brave pitching duo in the 50's, passed away today. A familar saying back then was " Spahn and Sain you best prey for rain" I have vivid memorys of my grandfather dispising these guys. But then he was a A's fan (Philadelphia A's that is) Warren Spahn passes

363 wins and because of his service in WWII, none came before the age of 25. 13 20-win seasons. Amazing.

Most wins by a left hander.

He pitched until he was 44 . . . . I wonder how much money he would've made today? Back then also, they pitched way more innings than they do today; Also, didn't he pitch 16 innings in a game he lost  ? ? ? Today, he would've been pulled in the 7th for a setup reliever!!!!!!!!!
