Maybe Harry will somehow inherit Dumbledore's powers. He would spend some time early in the next book trying to refine his powers. Maybe Dumbledore's picture will be able to assist....

I've been wondering how Harry and the new portrait will interact. How does that work?

Sorry it took so long, I had to do a little research. This is from the Order of the Phoenix. It seems to me that you have to mean for the curse to do great harm. Did Snape mean to do great harm?

Hatred rose in Harry such that he had never known before. He flung himself out from behind the fountain and bellowed "Crucio!" Bellatrix screamed. The spell had knocked her off her feet, but she did not writhe or shriek with pain as Neville had -- she was already on her feet again ... "Never used an Unforgivable Curse before, have you, boy?" she yelled. "You need to mean them, Potter! You need to really want to cause pain -- to enjoy it

Where is Dumbledore's wand. I would think it might be quite valuable.

Don't have the book with me, but could Dumbledore not leave a memory for Harry? A lot of emphasis was placed on reviewing memories in The Half Blood Prince.

Dumbledore pleaded with Snape before Snape blasted him. Dumbledore was not pleading for his life. He was pleading for Snape to do what was promised. This is part of the plan.

I've wondered about Snape thruout the books. I am now certain that Snape is a good guy.

Dumbledore may have left/sent something to Privet Drive for Harry that explains things. He was adamant that Harry return home one last time.

Dumbledore will return in the last book. Either his petronis (sp) is a phoenix, was saved by the phoenix or Dumbledore himself is using a horcrux. Dumbledore lives. He told Draco when Draco was debating the killing of Dumbledore "he cannot kill you if you are already dead". Dumbledore (the white) will return, stronger than ever. I hope I haven't confused my books.
