It's going to be a long finale if he has to squash 4 horcrux's, kill Voldemort, bang Ginny (he will), and graduate from Hogwarts (I think they will hook him up with some kind of graduation, and ask him to teach DADA)...

I wonder if the series really ends after the next book, considering it's popularity. It's hard to see it to be honest.

I am replying without reading the thread yet - my daughter consficated the book so I haven't read much yet. I have heard that some character dies and some peolple are upset over it

I hope I get a chance to read it before I find out which one - at least just for the suspense aspect of it

    *******SPOILERS WARNING*******

    OK, follow along with me.

We know, according to Snape's memory, that Lily Evans stuck up for him when James Potter and Sirius Black embarassed him after tests one year.

We also know that Lily was an exceptional Potions student.

I believe it is possible that Snape tutored Lily in Potions. I say this because of the knowledge expressed by Snape as the HBP in Harry's Potions book.

Having worked together with Lily for some amount of time, Snape fell in love with Lily, especially after she publically stuck up for him.

Snape overheard Trelawny reciting the prophecy concerning Harry and Voldemort, and it was his suggestion to the Dark Lord that the prophecy referred to the Potters.

After Voldemort killed Lily, I believe it was Snape's capacity for love in his remorse that convinced Dumbeldore that he had given up being a Death Eater and would join Dumbeldore's side.

That's why I think Snape is one of the good guys. Sure he killed Dumbeldore, but Hagrid overheard the two of them arguing, and I believe Dumbeldore was making Snape promise to kill him if Malfoy couldn't. I believe Dumbeldore sacrificed himself to propel Harry to be the ultimate weapon against Voldemort.

Oh, and the 'RAB' that stole one of the horcruxes? How about Regulus Black, Harry's uncle. It's possible, as Harry is Sirius' beneficiary to everything he owned, that Harry already has one of the horcruxes somewhere in the Black family home.

Yeah, JK needs to get Harry back together with Ginny. I wonder, though, who she'll kill off in the last book.

I agree completely, I am just glad someone else thought along the same lines as me.

I kinda thought along those lines also. My only complaint about the book was that is was VERY Harry and Dumbledore-centric (seemingly more so than in past books). It seems in the past books there was more with side stories and other characters (other than be annoyed at Ron did Hermione do anything notable in this one?). It was light on the Quidditch, light on the classroom stuff, light on the Dursleys nd and so on.

Now don't get me wrong, I enjoyed reading it and did so over the course of a day and a half (I was on vacation) but it wasn't my favorite in the series. But I understand that she had to use this book to set up all the things that have to be tied up in book 7. Too bad we have to wait another 3 years for the next book.

    It was really fast-paced.

Just finished it! Whew...that was pretty good. Not for the little kids.

You guys may be on to something with the Dumbledore / Snape thing. Dubledore was too intuitive to not see through Snape. When he said he trusted him completely, I believe he knew it to be true. I can see Dumbledore sacrificing himself for the greater good, if it rids the world of Voldemort.

My only question is... Harry is still a kid with only six years of school training. How in the hell is he going to get as good as Snape or Dumbledore to fight Voldemort in the last book? Seems he would get squashed like a bug to me...hell, Hermione probably knows more shit that him. I know he passed on skills imparted from Voldemort, but how is he going to use them if he hasn't been schooled?
