hair styles on the gridiron

    seems to be a lot of long hair ,dreadlocks, etc hanging out of helmets in today's game.

    where do team rules fall out on hair ?

    If I were a defensive coach, I would not change a thing, it just gives your guys more to grap hold of when making a tackle.

    It's considered part of a player's uniform, so you can tackle a guy by his hair. What you absolutely cannot do is pull a guy's hair after a play, like Larry Johnson did to Troy Polamalu earlier in the season.


    As far as I know, there are no rules about hair length. It's something that a player can do at his own peril. It's really a disadvantage for an offensive player, particularly running backs, which is why guys like Ricky Williams and Edgerrin James have wisely gotten rid of it.

    As i mentioned on another thread, the Hawaii team looks like a bunch of burned out hippies from the 70's. Somebody's going to get their scalp ripped.
