OK. I started this thread thinking there'd be a bunch. BUT THERE AREN'T!!!

    Steussie -

I don't want to cut him anyway, but we can't. He's slated to make $3.4 million, and we've given 9 million in bonus money. $6 million is still pro-rated, so we'd eat 2.6 million to cut him. We can't cut him until after June 1 2004.

    Moose -

Is slated to make 3.9 million, has $10 million in bonus money pro-rated. We'd save very little by cutting him, depending on the amount of the restructure in 2001. I doubt it's $800k, likely less. If we cut him post June 1, we save money. I think he's worth keeping for that much, because he's easy to cut in 2004.

And THAT'S ALL!! How AWESOME IS THAT!!

We can completely rebuild the Offense without drowning in dead money. Even Moose could be released, but i don't think the savings justifies it.

Nesbit will be UFA, and Hoover is RFA. I don;t think Hoov is gonna cost much to keep if we want. Neither will Jamar, if we want.

You sure about that Steussie deal? I thought he got around $5 - 6 mil signing bonus. The next bonus, around $2.5 mil, was a roster bonus. It only count that year. I guess we could have restructured, yes.

Moose still has $10 mil left to be counted? His original bonus was around $4.5 mil. I'd have figured him to be easier to cut than that, but I don't pay attention like I used to.

The way I calculated was by doing this:

I searched google for original amounts and lengths. Entered that total amount on calculator. Then I subtracted the slary for every year on NFLPA. That leaves an amount, and I assume that amount was bonuses.

You may be correct about the roster bonuses, and not counting in the pro-ration. However, I'm pretty sure they both restructured significant $$ amounts. Steussie this year, and Moose to get Steussie.

Still, the roster bonus you refer to might make Steussie cuttable. I'm not sure.

I still like how refer always looks like reefer to me

Not much bonus money on offense should tell us something about the talent level as well. Go figure.

If Richardson wants to energize the fan base, then they need to start showing a commentment with $$$'s to both sides of the ball. Good or bad doesn't matter as much as a show of effort IMO.

He got a 5 million dollar signing bonus I think.

We never did restructure him, though I thought we would.

He got a roster bonus this year, and likely due one each year after, I guess.

We've never had a bunch of money short of the cap, Y2. We were paying for past errors last year.

If that cap figure is correct for Moose- I guess he will stick around for another year. I saw another thread somewhere(Charlotte.com I think) where it said Moose was gonna make 5.98 next season and I'm not sure if that's cap figure or salary. If the Panthers could cut/trade him and only have about 1 million in dead money I say we do it and use 5 million to sign about 3 receivers like Orande Gadsen, Martay Jenkins, Brandon Stokley- assuming we could convince them to come here with no one to throw them the ball.

I'm really in favor of a complete Offensive overhaul. It would hurt my feeling I bit to have 10 or 11 new starters on Offense next year and none of them on our current roster except maybe Lamar Smith and Deshaun Foster.

True enough, but we go out and try to atrract big names on defense and sign Chuck Smith, Sean Gilbert, Randy White, and Eric Swaan in an attempt to break the all-time sack record, but who did we go after on offense? Natrone Means, Jeff Lewis, Rodney Peete, and Lamar Smith? Yea, we got Stuessie, and Minnesota fan said we could have him and his snap count. But who else?

Even though most failed, the caliber of players sought on defense have not been sought on offense.

Just for curiosity, I'd like to see how teams compare by what they spend on off/def seperatly.
