after watching last night, it is so obvious we have serious athletic ability. Watching Basden, Clemmons, Baldwin, and Pigford run up and down the court last night was like looking at a herd of gazelles. We are super fast. We should be able to man up on ANYONE in the country and rebound with ANYONE, but I will be looking for some guts. The kind of guts Kenkay, Demarco, Colson, Galen, and Diego had. Last year we looked like tinmen. If this group has fire in their bellies, they can produce big time, because the physical ability is definately there at every position.

Supposedly, Plavich, Demon, Clemmons and Pigford are guys with the will to win/battle that we have missed in year's past. On Lutz Live, coach talked described Plavich as that type of gritty-gutty win at all cost, team player who won't back down from the biggest guy on the other team. We'll have to see how it goes on the court.

Actually, I worry about interior defense and rebounding. Curtis doesn't exactly get after it underneath. Clemmons is strong but still undersized at center. Iti will need time but does have the height advantage. Pigford kicks ass but is short for the 4. Overall, I think we'll do a good job on the boards, but there will be some teams who kick our ass inside (SYR, UC off the top of my head). Spooner/type was the extra guy needed.

Bobby said up in Winston-Salem that they still talked to him every week but he wouldn't count on Spooner ever wearing a 49ers uniform. :(
