New years Resolution: Take guitar lessons. Need guitar - something relitively inexpensive, not that I don't mind spending the money for a gem but I wanna make sure I'm capable before I invest. So what do you musically inclined recommend for a good starter.

i am a novice myself. costco here in denver had takamine's for cheap. that was last summer. i think they were ranging from $150 - under $200.00. costco is like sams club. membership store. they come with a case, too, so that is a good thing. get a case and or a stand.

you can teach yourself. do you play the piano? if you do, you should pick up quick. i need to do that as well.

I thought about paying for lessons but I opted not to. Go with tabs or you can download videos off the net that can teach you how to play. Lessons are expensive. You can get a good Beginner's set at Guitar center for like 200 bucks. It'll have everything you need.

I'll ditto all that. I wouldn't spend more than $200 for a starter guitar. My dad got me a Hondo when I was in 9th grade. Still got it, after rescuing it from my brother.

If you get lessons - goto Guitar Workshop, Tim Murray.

Don't do it! The world doesn't need another guitar player. Play drums instead. :drums:
