Chad Clifton needs to learn not to give up on a play and keep his head up.

Offensive lineman get no sympathy from me. They get away with some very questionable things like chop blocking, so when a defensive lineman makes a clean, textbook block and the guy gets hurt cause he was loafing, too bad.

edit - And I like Chad Clifton. He's a good, overachieving offensive lineman like many Vol lineman. But you don't stop on a play like that.

  3. was it buddy ryan that sent a guy after a kicker on a kickoff? I can't remember the teams but right after kickoff instead of running back to block, a defender made a b line for the kicker and tokk his ass out...legal hit too. clifton might want to invest in skirts for his fellow linemates and coaches.

sore losers...in the end, yeah, Sapp didn't have to do what he did. Being openly retaliatory toward a team better than you and more talented than you isn't smart, not at all.

Plus, just try to find Sapp loafing. He might be fat, and he might like to talk, but he'll never be as stupid as Clifton to be sitting there in half jog pouting about a pick.

Sapp's now a marked man like our Sucker Punch Steve. They'll all try and get a free shot in when they can now. It'll probably be a RB taking a shot on the outside of his knee that takes him out.

Randy Moss made almost the same exact hit in a Panther game this year. The TV guys showed it over and over and cheered.

The difference is our guy got back up unhurt and Moss didn't jump around and act like an idiot. I think the problem was the celebration while the guy laid motionless. The only thing Sapp could have done worse would have been to pull out a Sharpie and sign his jersey while they carted him off the field.

Sapp has no class, but there was nothing wrong with the hit itself. Like they way they say "that's racin' ", that's football.

Bednarik had a similar situation, I think, when he ended Gifford's career (or was that someone else he fucked up?). He made a huge hit, the game ended, he celebrated, saying "This fucking game is over!" and it looked like he was standing over Gifford's limp body and talking trash.

Of course, that's the way it's told by them, and I'm sure the other side has another way of seeing it. But I don't think Sapp would be celebrating the hit as much as the pick.

Problem with that is it would be clearly premeditated. I think the league should step in at some point and shush Green Bay. Besides, the coaches should be writing checks the players can't sign. It's just fuel for Sapp really. He's playing some of the best football he's played and it don't look like he'll run out of gas anytime soon. The less they try to make of it the better, then retaliate in a game.

It may not be Green Bay that gets him. The O linemen on other teams may not take too kindly to Sapp's cheapshot and may seek to prevent a repeat against them.
