Skynyrd formed 5 years before the Allman Bros. LS is much more hard rock than AB's. I dont see Skynyrd being a ripoff. both great.

    When did LS get popular?

After AB along with more obscure southern rock bands paved the way.

Skynyrd was pretty damn good. They were just hitting their stride too when that plane crashed. Stevie Gaines was a great addition then it was over.

I think that band had a bunch of great music still to go.

If not for that dumptruck turning in front of Duane Allman, there'd be no contest between the Allman Brothers and Lynard Skynard.

same time as AB's but still. LS was heavier rock while AB's had different influences.. there were way more LS ripoff bands vs. AB's. and they are all from JAX area , go figure

    I'm lost...
Neither the AB or LS are even close to the greatest band of all time. I'm not even sure why they made mention in this thread.

Don't get me wrong, LS is a great band. I love their music, but if you leave the south you'd see that thet're not as big as you think they are. Outside of 'Sweet Home Alabama', it's not uncommon to find folks that never even heard of them.

And the Allman Brothers???? How the hell did they even make mention???? Don't they have that one song? With no lyrics? What's it called??? Yeah... they're the best.
