Greatest Band of All Time?

    As much as I like the Dead they weren't terribly innovative or original. They simply presented traditional music in a way that the drugged out people would bug out to.

    I would put the Stones over the dead in terms of classic definition of a band but they two leaned on a traditional form of music.

    The Beatles, while not my favorite band by any means, would have to be the "greatest band" in my opinion. There simply hasn't been any other that had that immediate impact, lasting influence and global recognition.

    Influence and popularity wise, Beattles hands down.

    Comprehensive talent wise? I'd have to throw out the name Rush. Those guys were all at the top of talent pool at each of their respective instruments.

    Rush...talent wise...maybe. Dream Theater is right there. Couldn't say either is the greatest band of all times...

    I'm still going to have to go with Pink Floyd.

    There are classically trained musicians everywhere. That doesn't make them good bands.

    Does Jimmy Bufett count as a band? He is definitily in a league of his own.
