    what year am I comparing that's wrong?

    NBA Averages at www.basketball-reference.com

    I don't see a median average yet for this year at any site, and my Exel isn't working, but the MEDIAN is 97.6.

    Beginning with the 04-05 season....

    2005= 97.2
    2004= 93.4
    2003= 95.1
    2002= 95.5
    2001= 94.8
    2000= 97.5
    1999= 91.6
    1998= 95.6
    1997= 96.9

    And the MEDIAN in 1997 was 95.4, more than two points less than this year.

    Scoring is up.

    This should be an extremely simple concept. We're comparing the first two seasons of previous expansions (Toronto/Vancouver & Charlotte/Miami) vs. the first two seasons of this expansion (Charlotte again). '97-'98 is irrelevant to the discussion.

    The scoring averages for the first two years after the Toronto/Vancouver expansion were:
    '95-'96: average of 99.5, median of 99.4
    '96-'97: average of 96.9, median of 97.2

    The scoring averages for the first two years after the most recent Charlotte expansion were:
    '04-'05: average of 97.2, median of 97.0
    '05-'06: average of 97.0, median of 97.6

    Scoring is not up over those two year periods; it's actually slightly down.

    off top of my head, I really don't know, but I beleive it was a multi-year deal. Lots was done in year 1 that wasn't good for everyone. Talks have begun to make the partnership better for all.

    OK, you are throwing in the 96 season. 97 was the start of the downward trend, the style shift to bleeding out the shot clock and slowing down the game. Before then, 100+ was the norm each year.

    My point was that the game is going back up if you look at the last two years. And this year was better than the 97 season, the second season of both expansion franchises.

    Why can people on this board not have a fucking discussion without name calling? Collin you are a fucking genius, I get it, but could you not make the same point without name calling? I usually like learing from your posts but, I have gotten to the point where I would rather not learn from you becasue of how fucking rude you are.:twocents:

    Found out something today that IMO could help the cause in getting the Bobcats on TV to more people in the region.

    I read in the Atlanta Journal Constuition that Turner South was bought out by FOX (that I already knew) and that they take over control of the channel on Monday. FOX has said that their ultimate plan is to turn Turner South into another FSN channel, giving the south two different FSN channels. Now if that is the case, that would be the perfect opportunity for the Bobcats to jump in line and have their games shown on this news sports channel as soon as the current contract expires. The creation of another sports channel in the south could also serve those who signed on to be a part of the old C-SET channel that Johnson started two years ago (i.e ACC, SOCON, Big South and Minor League Baseball)

    the Atlanta Hawks currently have games on Turner South as well...may be tough for the Bobcats to break into the programming rotation...
