Better REALLY watch out how and where you get tickets! Counterfeit tix around.

    Counterfeit tickets found
    PAT YASINSKAS
    Staff writer

For Sunday's Panthers game against Atlanta at Ericsson Stadium, 68,224 fans showed up with tickets. The problem was, only 68,174 tickets were real.

Phil Youtsey, director of ticket operations, said about 50 counterfeits were found.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police have talked to people who had bad tickets and were trying to find the source.

The Panthers want to avoid a similar problem for Sunday's home game with New Orleans, which is expected to sell out this morning. Youtsey said fans need to beware.

"The only way to be sure you're getting the real thing is to buy from authorized ticket distributors ... the Panthers and Ticketmaster."

Is anyone aware of a Panther ticket exchange website or forum out there anywhere? I know some college fan websites have such forums where fans can sell their extra or unused tickets to other fans of the same team (GamecockNation has one, for example).

Unless your a MORON like DaveW....

there are plenty of face value and lower tickets. It's all where you go and how you approach the guys. 1-5 minutes after kickoff is the best time. The guys are getting ready to lose the entire value of the ticket, so they are happy to recoup face value or less

As far as the fake tickets....they are printed on ticket master tickets. They are not NFL issue. They're easy to spot. I think ticket master shouldn't be allowed to print any tickets.

Any tips on what areas are best? First-timer here and I am going to be scouring the streets to find some decent seats.

I post my extras on Openseats.com. it is not just for Panthers seats, it is for events all over the place. i have had pretty good success and i never sell my tix for over face value. of course some do, but most are just getting rid of extras for the money they have in them.

Best places are across the street from the Dogpound and under the bridge on Mint or at the North gate across the street by the parking garage.

Sometimes it pays to walk through the tailgate parties and ask around.

    scalping...an american tradition

i have scalped tix all over the country, and i have found that it is sometimes best to get away from the masses. sure, there are lots of people selling under the bridge and also on the north end near Duke Energy. but this is also where the professionals hang so they gobble up the extras and set the market...to a degree. it is also where all the buyers are going. there is negotiating power in the fact that there are no other buyers around.

i like to hustle a little...it is part of the fun. basically, get out and talk to people. wherever there are fans tailgating or walking towards the stadium is a good place. you catch the folks BEFORE they get to the popular ticket selling spots. they have no idea what kind of street market is out there (buyers or sellers). fans with extras want to make a deal and get into the game. scalpers are willing to wait around as long as it takes to sell theirs.

last thing...take a seat map. some pros will bring one, but most fans will not have one. they may have no idea where their seats are because the tix they got were given to them but they could only use two of them. they sell the other two for beer money. you can find one online or as a last ditch effort, tear the one out of the yellow pages.

It may sound stupid....but I love not knowing where I'm sitting. As long as I'm in the lower section, I could careless where the seat is.
