watched the first half last night. Kind of slow. does the second half get better? Maybe it's just because I've seen the same story a dozen times already.

This movie was a good recounting of Jackson, but the book was about, Longstreet, Armistace, Stewart, Taylor, Picket, Hancock, Chamberlainand Jackson. A must read for civil war buffs.

Probably not, Turner wants to make it a trilogy and release 2 more movies.

actually part was alreADY made, the book Killer Angels, is the 1993 movie Gettyburg. The last in the trilogy is a book called The Last Full Measure.

You will notice that in Gods and Generals, the battles of Second Manassas, Sharpesburg, and the Tidewater battles are not even mentioned. Those were huge in the development of Lee, Longstreet and Stewart as Confederate Generals and those battles also helped Develope WS Hancock into a solid Corp leader.

I assume you mean J.E.B. Stuart?

He was a fucking idiot and his grand ride around the Union Army as Lee marched north after Chancellorsville left Lee totally blind as to Union positions leading up to Gettysburg.

I am watching it now. I could do without the love scenes. The action is great. I just learned that "You do not cheer an officer...you salute him!!!"

    3 hours to go....
