Who has killed more, Satan or God?

In a previous post, I counted the number of people that were killed by the God in the Bible. I came up with 2,128,334, which, of course, greatly underestimates God's total death toll, since it only includes those killings for which specific numbers are given. No attempt was made to include the victims of Noah's flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, or the many plagues, famines, fiery serpents, etc., with which the good book is filled. Still, 2 million is a respectable number even for world class killers.

But how does this compare with Satan? How many did he kill in the Bible?

Well I can only find ten, and even these he shares with God, since God allowed him to do it as a part of a bet. I'm talking about the seven sons and three daughters of Job.

There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job ... And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters.
    ...
And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? Then Satan answered the LORD ... put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.
    ...
And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house...And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. -- Job 1:1-19

So it seems that both Satan and God share the blame (or the credit) for these killings. If so, then the tally would be:

    killings
    God 2,128,344
    Satan 10

At the risk of semantics, it depends on how you assign responsibility for the deaths. God has struck down or caused the deaths directly of hundreds of millions, maybe even billions, if you take into account the plagues of Egypt and the Great Flood. Directly, you're probably right about Satan's body count.

    However...

If you take into consideration that natural death is the result of sin being introduced into the world by Satan, then an argument can be made that Satan's body count numbers in the billions.

Another thing to consider is that God offers eternal life in heaven, which ain't a bad consolation prize.

    Builder,

I am so glad to see you searching the scriptures, but pray you will begin to read with the intent of seeing the goodness of God.

I am praying for you, for your well being both spiritually, physically and for your business..you have expressed that you are having economic difficulties with regard to your work.

You have such a sharp mind, and I am sure you are very talented.

I pray you will stay away from this board during the day, and focus your energy towards marketing your architecture skills, seeking God's guidance with regard to new business, and in your relationships.

There is hope and help when you seek God with a heart that is willing to learn. Ask him to help you, and he will..if you will keep reading his word.

I would also highly recommend Stephen Covey's book-"7 Habits of Highly Effective People"..to help you in marketing your business.

My heart is sincere and loving towards you. Yes, I am a christian, and I don't like your sin, but I do love you. We are all sinners, in God's eyes. And I believe with all my heart that your help is in the Lord.

Thats a bit of a stretch, we have a life cycle just like every other living creature. To blame the final phase on Satan sounds wrong.

I cant believe God intended us to exponentially overpopulate the planet.

And like you said, if we do go to heaven were not really dying are we, just leaving our earthly vessel behind.

According to the Bible, Adam and Eve were created immortal. Death (and causes for it) was introduced with sin. Again this is just what the Bible says, but for the context of this thread I think it's appopriate to consider.

He's planning to create a new earth and new heaven anyway (Revelation), and to be a home for everyone who was ever saved, so I'm assuming it's going to be bigger. I'm sure if sin had never been introduced and it came to overpopulation, He would do the same thing.

Physical death, but not spiritual death. The thing you have to remember is that when God made Adam and Eve, the Bible says they were perfect, both body and soul.

builder, think about how many annoying people God has rid the earth of that you do not have to put up with now.

Makes you want to rethink the whole athiest thing, doesn't it?

Perfection doesn't screw up. There had to be something in them that made them less than perfect if they decided against what they were put her for to taste of the fruit.

The Serpent of the Garden is still my hero. Without him, we'd still be ignorant drooling poo-flingers unaware of our nakedness and lacking the knowledge of good and evil.

I'll concede the potential for evil was always there, because Adam and Eve were both created with free will. Love cannot happen without it. I don't know that I agree it made them imperfect, though. I think the moment they decided to "screw up" and believe Satan over God, was the moment their perfect state was lost forever.
