    "God has left the building!"

The temporary operator of the Albemarle Road Chick-Fil-A (Paul Xiong) would say. He came in yesterday to take the place of the former operator who has left for a Burlington Chick-Fil-A. The first thing Paul did on his first day on the job was remove the corporate purpose sign hanging below the menu boards behind the front counter.

This sign read: "Our Corporate Purpose: To Glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us. To have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A." There will also no longer be Christian music playing over the pa system in the restaurant. I have a feeling this is a sign of things to come.

All of the kids who work there with me are very upset about the drastic changes in the new management. I guess they should get used to it. That's life. That's the corporate world. If they don't like it, then get the heck out. I have a feeling the customers are going to quickly notice the change in not only the management change, but also the morale of the staff. I guess that's my job there now... to keep up the morale, but without losing my job at the same time.

But Chic-Fil-A as a whole is a very religious group. How can a manager come in and change that?

Each CFA is independently owned and operated. The Owner/Operator can run the business anyway he/she wants to, as long as the restaurant is closed on Sundays and the product is consistant. There will be letters written to corporate by many employees. As assistant manager, I cannot stop them from doing that, and I won't even try. I think it's sad. These are a bunch of great kids. They had a great family at CFA, and the former operator and his general manager (also left) were like dads to many of them. Things are going to start to fall apart soon.

What pisses me off the most is that they are closed on Sunday. Don't they know that the Sabbath was on Saturday back in the old ages? Sunday was stolen from the Pagan religion which observed it on "Sunday".

It is a Christian company not Jewish. Jesus supposedly rose from the dead on Sunday. It has nothing to do with the Sabbath.

how does an owner/operator get "relocated" to Burlington? Seems like cfa hq would be better aware on o/o candidates than to relocate operators willy nilly. sounds fishy the way you present it.

I eat there almost every weekend, PG. I stopped in there yesterday and overheard one of the employees saying that the new manager would be in soon. It's a shame, because those kids are always very nice, respectful and work pretty hard. They have good attitudes and the place is always clean. I know who you mean when you talk of the operator who has moved to Burlington. He was very good. I've watched him work with the kids. Sounds like the customers are in for a let down too.

And on the 7th day God rested. Even he took Sundays off.

So you're a fundamentalist? Otherwise, you'd know that the written words are open to interpretation.
