Wow, good post SY. Except I do believe God does see all. But he isn't going to intervene on most stuff.

I think this question is about your dad, but it fits in a lot of different situations. Accidents, weather, and all sorts of other things. There are other reasons God allows bad things to happen to people. Sometimes it takes something bad and painful to break someone out of their comfort zone -- to get them to start looking toward Him for everything instead of staying focused on themselves. I know it did for me. I wasn't looking for God's help in my life until my wife was diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. It took her experience to shake me into the reality that I was not in control, so I started looking toward the One who is. Does that make sense?

Lots of people care, and some people have an idea.

God is a lot bigger than you're describing here, SY. God is everywhere at once. He is not confined to the rules and boundaries of our material existence. By His very definition, He has to be. And because He is everywhere, and does know everything, through Him everything has a purpose. I've found that if I try to look at things that happen from God's perspective and with His values in mind, most of the time I can figure out at least part of what that purpose is.

His Bible is the key to unlocking some of the answers he's looking for.

I agree with what Hasbeens posted above. Tragedy can have a purpose in God's plan.

You lost your father, I lost a child.

As hard as that is and as much as it hurts we grew stronger for it. I have a question for you.

Would you be as close to God today without that tragedy in your life?

Everyday on AM radio they play about 4 or 5 different sermons from different preachers. One of them is Adrian Rodgers, i really like him. Well, anyways, he was talking about God sees all, knows all about us. He knows our future, our present and our past and he can see it all at once. I really do believe that things happen for a reason. But this really didn't have anything to do with my dad. I think i might already know why that might of happened. Of course, i won't know really till i meet Jesus but i think that maybe and i really do hope this~ that the people who killed my dad were going down a path, their life before my dad's death was pretty miserable. Maybe this will cause them to seek Jesus as their saviour. Maybe it will, maybe it won't. Or maybe it has touched someone elses life, i know it has mine.
Really i was thinking of some other tragedies i've seen in the paper lately. like the 5 yr. old that got killed by his babysitter's lawnmower.

As far as me putting down the bible, that won't happen. It has been the only thing that has given me any kind of peace from all this crap. I love learning, i pray every night that i will become more knowledgeable and have a closer relationship with Jesus. It fills me with such hope and peace that i don't get from anywhere else.

You are really growing into quite a wise young man, JB. Being able to look beyond your own pain and see the bigger picture takes faith and maturity. I am proud of you!! :applause:

JB I would never advise you to put your bible down all together. Knowing what I do about you I worry that you dwell on some things a little too much.

And just like you said in your own post I think there are some answers we won't know until we get to heaven.

I really don't know how to take this. Are you trying to be helpful, or am i annoying you cause i am asking questions? I'm not sure exactly what you mean by dwelling on things. This is a religious forum and i have questions so i ask.

Patti you can't work through something by ignoring it or just pushing it down inside you.

Yes I am trying to be helpful. And no you are not annyoing me. And what I meant by dwelling on things is that I know in the past you have tried to figure out why some things have happened, and I don't think that is always possible.

And as for working through things you are absolutely right you can't do that by ignoring them, but at the same time you and both agree that we won't get an answer for some things until we get to heaven.
