i was having a conversation the other day about people that rely on god for everything and give credit to god for everything to the point that they seem to exclude themselves from blame or decision making. you know the people i'm talking about. the person i was talking to said 'and they always seem to be so gloomy'. i started thinking about people i know that fit the mold and that person was right. i would think these people would be some of the happiest but instead they seem to be filled with doom and gloom. just a 'life sucks' attitude. they seem emotionally weak and have phobias out the ying-yang.

on another note...i was having a chat with a person like the one i'm describing above and in the chat i said 'higher power'. he asked me if i ever said 'god' or did i always say 'higher power'. my reply was 'higher power, source, god...'. i'm of the thought that it doesn't matter what label i put on it, it is something bigger than me but it belongs to me. it is part of me and it is different than anyone else's.

You're right -- people who claim to rely on God for everything should be calm, confident, and at peace. It almost begs the question, do the people who make that claim but live in fear trust Him? I can think of few things scarier than relying on someone you don't or can't trust.

I have often found that people who wear it on their sleeves are often doing it to convince themselves as much as anything.

    Christians are humans

You make the mistake of thinking that Christians are exempt from the pitfalls of life. Quite the contrary, we all live in a sinful world and are subject to the same temptations. Every Christian varies in their degree of faith and obedience in their walk with Christ. It's not an automatic "plane" or "plateau" that you recieve or live on just because you accept Christ as your Lord and Saviour. It's a lifetime of growing and learning. People who don't want to take a look at their own life and admit the faults and sinfulness they're living in, often try to point out bad examples of Christians as their reason for not wanting to become "one of them". Churches are not museums for saints, but rather hospitals for sinners, which every single person is and always will be. It's only by Gods grace that we're forgiven if we believe and trust in Him.
