i am pulling for STL to stretch this at least 1 more game. HOU has been very good up to now (surprisingly IMO), and have outplayed STL.

Wouldn't mind having the Stros rotation a little jumbled heading to Chicago, but heck, I don't care who the Sox face at this point. they are facing someone.

As much as I love the Astros, if the go to the WS, they better bring their A game. The Sox will give them a run for their money, IMHO.

On a seperate note, the guy behind the plate last night sucked major ass. Neither side really benefitted, but his performance was hardly worthy of the type of ball being played by the 2 teams.

I can't believe he gave Rolen the boot. Wow! I heard an interview with Rolen and he said the ump started cussing him, not the other way around.I bet there is some magic phrase, probably including comments about wives, mothers, and sisters, that will get the automatic hook.

One thing about that guy last night, at least he was consistant. His zone didn't really change all night.

I didn't see Rolen get booted, but - and I can't believe I am getting ready to defend LaRussa here - but the ump made a CLEAR throat slashing gesture at him when Larussa got tossed. I was kinda suprised that the Fox guys didn't make more of it.

On the other hand, the crew chief did an outstanding job of diffusing that situation (to be fair the Home Plate ump did too by continuing to walk away). But it was comical watching LaRussa try to get his pound of flesh.

I really thought the cut throat motion was more of a "cut it out" or "shut it" kinda thing. I hadn't given it any thought until you just brought it up.

The Rolen thing happened so fast. He must have been jawing for quite some time or hit that button pretty quick.
