I have read some folks believe that taking Glutamine helps people in pre athritius state. My hands have been hurting for about 6 months especially in the morning. I mentioned this to my doctor in July and he mentioned that some people swear by it. Does anyone have an opinion?

I think he does mean glucosamine. I know people who swear by it as well. Supposedly it heals and prevents joint problems significantly for some people. You have to be on it 6+ weeks regularly before you start feeling better, though.

Sorry, that's it. Didn't have the bottle in front of me. I have been taking 2 of those horse pills a day for 2 weeks. Maybe it's psychosomatic, but my hands are feeling better

I have a bum knee and was taking that Vioxx crap daily until another MD recommended I try Glucosamine (this was before all the hype about Vioxx, it just wasn't working well for me & I happened to mention that to this other MD). I started taking the Glucosamine and took myself off the Vioxx, MAJOR difference! I still feel aches and pains sometimes but not near what I still felt with the Vioxx, and all the relief came from a plain old vitamin instead of a prescription!

I LOVE IT. Wouldn't trade it for the world. Glucosamine is the shit as far as joint pain is concerned!

It works! But you can't take just a pill or two a day. I did I believe, 2 or 3 3 times a day, and it took a few weeks.
My mom had arthritis and takes it, took all her pain away.
Also I saw a study on TV and EVEN the AMA said it worked. Which is amazing, since theylike to push pills not a vitiman.
